MEMORIAL UNITED PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH was the setting'for the wedding of Kyle Mane Dalton and John Ray Morris Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The Rev. Kenneth L. Beams officiated ANIMAIL "Jaws" typical Hollywood rip-off By CLEVELAND AMORY Please, please write something about "Jaws" and its awful, but predictable, result the killing of virtually everything that moves in the water. D.R., Detroit.

I will in spades. I am as irritated as you are. I am also becoming pro-shark. Furthermore, I thought that the fake shark in the movie was about as terrifying as something out of Kukla, Fran and Ollie. Begin with the facts.

About 20 people a year are killed by sharks and that figure is for ALL OVER THE WORLD! Even if you swim in the ocean every chance you get, you have more repeat, more -chance of getting struck by lightning than you have of ever even being bitten, let alone eaten, by a shark. You also have more chance of being killed by a wasp. Yes, wasp. More people are killed annually by wasps -in the United States alone -than by sharks all over the world. If you're still worried, you can get guide books for safe swimming.

One says, "It might be a good idea to select other than bright colors for swim wear." MIGHT, mind you you see, they're not sure. "Avoid," the same book says, "swimming with an animal such as a dog or a horse." Soon, you couldn't pick up a paper without reading some shark scare story from somewhere it's too bad they didn't dateline them all "Hollywood." Even the author of it all was himself attacked by a shark, according to the National Enquirer. I wish I could believe it. He certainly should be. The producers of "Jaws" aren't the slightest concerned that they have unleashed hundreds of thousands of spear- fishermen all over the world who now have an excuse -or so they think to spear everything that moves; that people even stabbed a baby whale to death with umbrellas; or, for that matter, that Universal Pictures is selling at then- studio shops, in bottles of formaldehyde, fetuses of baby sharks.

That's not all. We're going to have a rash of sequels to the picture. Not only "Jaws II" and presumably III, but also "new" pictures like "Killer Grizzly." (I guessed it would be called "Paws," but I was wrong.) It will be called "Claws." There will also be one about a killer crocodile. "A crocodile," says the Australian producer of this forthcoming gem, "is doubly dangerous because of its amphibious nature. It can stay under water for 45 minutes, and it can also run on land at a speed of about 10 miles per hour." Terrific.

Soon, they'll have everybody out clubbing to death the last crocodiles and alligators. Literally the last; both are a a a species. After "Killer Croc," how about a "true" new picture? I suggest "Killer Wasp." Now there's a great title. And you've got so much going for you you know the double entendre Just think you would have every non-Wasp in the country out squashing little wasps and big WASPS. There -have even been book sequels.

The latest is "The Jaws Log" by Carl Gottlieb, one of the writers of the picture. The-title on the book jacket has a tiny little "The," a tiny little "Log" and a huge "JAWS" the idea being apparently to capture the market on the newstands tfiat might be temporarily out of the real "Jaws." Anyway, its full of such incredible prose as: 'Steven (the director) is the Boy Who stood on the Burning Deck, Dick and David (the producers) are like Nelson at Trafalgar, calm, resolute, never showing any outward signs of anguish or despair." Doesn't it just make you love them? Meanwhile, of course, just to get a dead shark to hang up the dock, they were ordering shark-hunters to "comb the ocean." And, as if this weren't enough, their movie crew spent their spare time killing little 4-foot sharks for the fun of it. "It was," the book states, "the crew's revenge on an entire species. Fortunately, none of our divers got-bit." if you ask me. But perhaps the most inexcusable thing of all is the movie's inaccuracy.

When "Quint" (Robert Shaw) told that long story about the Indianapolis sinking and 790 men being eateri by sharks, he told it as gospel, real-life truth. However, when I heard it, somthing rang a bell. That 790 figure sure raised hob with the yearly average quoted figure of 20 deaths a year from sharks. I called the Navy Dept. I read articles about and quotes by survivors.

The facts are that very few of the men were even bothered by sharks. it had been that way," said one survivor, "there would have been more of us left. The big thing that killed the men was the long exposure without food or water. Sharks played a small part in the deaths." "For the first three days," says another survivor, "no sharks bothered us." Still another says the sharks were not even a worry. "We had one so friendly," he said, "we called him Charlie." The bride is the daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. John H. Dzlton of Kettering. Th? bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs.

Gerald E. Morris of Xenia. The bride wore a formal floor length gown of white miromist organza fashioned with a high neckline and chapel train. The long fitted sleeves of chantilace featured a ruffle at the wrist. Chantilace studded with seed pearls trimmed the empire bodice and accented the circular skirt.

A row of scalloped lace edged the hemline. Her floor length veil and blusher was caught to a camelot cap of chantilace with matching lace edging the mantilla. She carried a colonial bouquet of white sweetheart roses, miniature blue carnations and baby's breath held together with blue and white streamers. Kathy Dalton of Xenia was maid 'of honor. Bridesmaids were Becky Morris, sister of the bridegroom, Carol Heaton and Mrs.

Herbert Morris, sister-in-law of the bridegroom. All are of Xenia. Their gowns were of light blue chiffon with empire bodice and featuring a V-neck and long fitted sleeves ruffled at the wrist. A band of cluny lace accented the bodice with long ties at the back. They wore light blue picture hats accented with a white bow and streamers at the back.

But it's happening. Seems like we're fighting more than we're planning. I think she should be as thrilled as I am, and instead she's either bossy or glum. And I get back at her by saying mean things. Money is a small problem, but it seems like EVERYTHING upsets her.

Attend to a lot of the preliminaries, such as pricing and ordering announcements, getting the bridegroom's invitation list, buying paper plates and cups (if you expect to use them), arranging for food that is reasonable but good--and let her know you'll help with the cost, wherever you can. In other words, take some of the load off her shoulders, and I think you'll soon be back to your old Dear But not too much of the load, or your mother will resent being excluded from your plans.
