Boston College qpened its football season at Alumni Field. Newton, yesterday, defeating the strong eleven from the battleship Utah, 22 to 0.. The superior team work of the Maroon and Gold team told over the sailor lads. Capt Jim Fitzpatrick made the final tally in the contest on a pretty drop from the 35-yard line. Fitzpatrick played a brilliant game and with Phil Corrigan was the sensation.

Both carried the-ball-well. Corrigan crossed the goal line twice and hurled passes long distances with great accuracy. One of his tosses into the hands of Urban for a touchdown. Scanlon and Halloran played well defensively and made gains consistently. On the line for B.

Morrissey. Heaph.V and Sheehan did steady work. The Utah team had a star in Ullrich, the quarter, who made several of the longest gains for his team and also shone in the tackling. He nailed Urban on the one-yard line in the second period, after tiro latter had received a 40-yard pass from Corrigan. After the kickoff the sailors lost the ball on downs and B.

C. scored when Corrigan tossed a pass from about the 14 -yard line into the hands of Urban. The cry at goal from a difficult angle failed. Boynton, quarterback of the Williams team, was the star of the game. He was one of the fastest men on the offensive seen in this section in some time, and broke up many plays which would have been costly to his team.

A fumble in the first two minutes of play gave Williams their first touchdown and from then on the Bay State men had things their own way. The goal was from a difficult angle, but Fitzpatrick sent the ball over. After a few short gains the Utah eleven tried a forward and then punted. Corrigan caught the ball and ran from his 20-yard line to midfield, where Strong brought him down with a fine tackle and the period ended. In the next period, after a loss, 'tne sailors again punted.

Halloran made a 26-yard gain, and followed with two more short Then came one of the best plays of the game, when Corrigan threw another pass to Urban, only to have Ullrich nab him as told above. The sailors here made their hardest stand. It took all of four tries to push the ball over, Halloran and Scanlon failing In two attempts, while Fitzpatrick was thrown for a two-yard loss, by Doyle.
