THE XENIA DAILY GAZETTE 1 "7 Thursday, June 5,1975 A Fairborn Council okays siren purchase our youth VAN GUNDY Electric Co. of Xenia was given a $23,200 contract by Fairborn City Council Monday night for construction of a siren warning system for the city. The system, designed with the assistance of federal officials, is similar to Xenia's siren system, according to Fairborn City the spirit of seventy-four means Xenia! Manager Claude Malone, Jr. installation of the system's five sirens is expected to be completed within four months, Malone said. Council also adopted a permanent pay schedule ordinance calling for a six per cent raise for all city employes with the exception of fire fighters and fire lieutenants.

The action makes permanent a 180-day emergency ordinance which earlier approved the six per cent raise. Separate negotiations are now underway with fire fighters and fire lieutenants, and police contracts, calling for a six per cent raise retroactive to Jan. 1, were signed Wednesday. Pay schedules for those groups will be added to the ordinance by amendment, Malone said. IN OTHER action, Council: --Adopted an ordinance rezoning two and one-half acres of land near the intersection of Old Dayton- Yellow Springs and Beaver Valley Rds.

The land, previously designated for R-l single family units, was rezoned to R-4 multiple family dwellings; Approved two resolutions authorizing applications for funding of land aquisition and improvements in the Fairborn parks system; --Approved a contract for the purchase of radio communications equipment, awarded to General Electric for $8,097.60. Eight portable radios, including belt units and lapel microphones, will be purchased for the police department under a federal grant which funds all but $1,960 of the contract cost.
