Tuesday, June 28, 2005 More deaths, 12A The Paducah Sun 7B Gertrude Holt Services for Gertrude DeFrances Holt, 77, of Paducah will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Elvin Woodruff officiating. Burial will be in Maplelawn Park Cemetery. She died at 11:15 a.m.

Thursday at Western Baptist Hospital. Mrs. Holt was formerly employed by Food Service, Cecil's Bar-B-Que and Dr. Norman Parrott. A member of the Church of the Living God CWFF, she served as church clerk and president of the senior choir, and also served on the culinary staff and missionary society.

Surviving are four sons, Donald G. Holt Troy M. Holt and Darris D. Shelby, all of Paducah, and Anthony J. Holt of Los Angeles; four daughters, Joyce, D.

Donelson, Chereetta J. Holt and Cheryle D. Holt, all of Paducah, and Denise J. "Sheba" Wilson of Dallas; 25 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and several. nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald G. Holt one granddaughter; three brothers; and four sisters. Her parents were Conless Oliver and Lena Harden Oliver. Special visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening at the Church of the Living God CWFF. Friends may call after 11 a.m.

Wednesday at Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church. Pettus-Rowland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Nadine Gurley MARION, III. Services for Nadine Gurley, 87, of Marion, formerly of Vienna, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna with Dr.

James W. Cecil officiating. Burial will be in RobinsonWise Cemetery in Ozark. Mrs. Gurley died at 10:07 a.m.

Sunday at Heartland Regional Medical Center. A native of New Burnside, she was a homemaker and a member of Vienna First Baptist Church. She was formerly employed by the Good Luck Glove Factory for 13 years. Surviving are three daughters, Shirley McKenzie of Creal Springs and Doris Lawrence and Judy Ragain, both of Marion; one sister, Bonnie Penrod of Harrisburg, three brothers, Bob Cavitt of East Peoria, John Cavitt of Vienna and Jesse Cavitt of' Manteno; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin C.

11th Vienna, IL 62995. Jo Ethel Gordon DOGWOOD, Ky. Jo Ethel Gordon, 75, of the Dogwood community died at 11:45 a.m. Monday at her home. Arrangements were incomplete at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield.

Margie Davis Services for Margaret Davis, 78, of Paducah will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, where she was a member. The Revs. Anthony Shonis and John Vaughn will officiate.

Burial will be in Mount a Cemetery. Mrs. Davis died. at 6:15 a.m. Sunday.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry D. Davis; four brothers; and two sisters.

Graveside services for Helen M. Casey Campbell, 92, of Vienna will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Reynoldsburg Cemetery in Tunnel Hill with the Rev. Albert Simmons officiating. Mrs.

Campbell died at 8:35 p.m. Saturday at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis. A native of the Sanburn community, she was a housekeeper for several local families, and was a member of Tunnel Hill Pentecostal Church. Surviving are two daughters, Bonnie Kerley of Metropolis and Mary Parker of Vienna; one brother, Billie McCuan of Vienna; eight grandchildren; 23 greatgrandchildren; 22 great greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Johnnie Casey; her second husband, John R.

Campbell; one sister; four brothers; and one grandson. Her parents were Henry McCuan Jr. and Ollie Marie Dalton McCuan. Friends may call from 6 to 8 this evening at Bailey Funeral Home. Tillie Groves BURNA, Ky. Minnie Myrtle "Tillie" Groves, 78, of Burna died Monday at Riverside Manor Nursing Home in Calhoun. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Boyd Funeral Directors in Salem. The Rev.

Max Hansen will officiate. Burial will be in Hampton Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 7 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Other arrangements were incomplete. James "Jimmie" Griffin, 79, of Kuttawa died at 12:45. p.m. Monday at Rivers Bend Retirement Center. A U.S.

Marine veteran of World War II, Mr. Griffin was a postmaster for 28 years in Kuttawa and three years in Marion. He served five terms on. the Kuttawa City Council and was a member of Kuttawa United Methodist Church. Surviving are a brother, Tommy Collier of Lexington; a niece, LaDonna Snider of Donalsonville, and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Josephine McCallister Griffin. His mother was Cornelia Wilkinson Griffin. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Kuttawa Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Keegan officiating.

Solomon was a laborer for Pip Johnson Construction. He was a Kentucky Colonel and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are three sons, Kenneth Solomon and wife, Beth, of Calvert City, James Solomon and wife. Jane, of Kevil, and Patrick Solomon and wife, Starla, of Benton; one daughter, Debra Winsett and husband, Nickey, of Benton; 10 grandchildren, Billy Joe Hale; his mother, Brenda Hale of Paducah; one son, Joshua Hale of Paducah; one daughter, Alexis Hale of Paducah; one stepson, Travis Morehead of Paducah; two stepdaughters, Brittany Morehead and Audrey Morehead, both of Paducah; two half sisters, Denise Mourad of Reidland and Crystal Gish of Paducah; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Louise Grace (nee Hight), age 87, passed away Sunday, June 26 2005, at her home in Highland, Ind. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Bognar and son-inlaw. Robert Bognar, of Highland, and Barbara (Janie) Hurley and son-in-law. James, of luka, two stepgrandsons, Sgt. Jason Hurley, stationed with the U.S.

Air Force in Snow Hill, N.C., and Sgt. Scott Hurley, stationed with the U.S. Army at Killeen, Texas; her grandchildren, Jennifer Marrs of Fishers, Robyn Bognar of Indianapolis, Sheila Stone of luka and Jeffrey P'Poole of Kuttawa, six great and three sisters, Carlene Sharber, Ophelia McCord and Flossie Sharber, all of Christian County, Ky. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Vivian W. Grace: son, Donald Gene, who died, at birth; greatgranddaughter, Holly Childress; sisters.

Opal Grace, Minnie Atkinson and Flora Gamblin; and brother, Carl Hight. Her parents were Oscar and Viola Hight. She will be sorely missed by all, especially her "buddies," Julius and Fannie Bognar of Highland. Mrs. Grace was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Eddyville, where she was a member of the Golden Voices Choir.

She was a former employee of Southern Electric in Hammond. where she retired in 1976. She then moved to Eddyville, where she lived for 24 years before moving to Highland to live with daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Robert Bognar, for the last four years due to health reasons. A retired U.S. Air- Force master sergeant, he was a Vietnam veteran and worked for the Department of Defense, for 17 years. He was a member of Cross Roads Christian Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and the Masonic lodge. Surviving are his wife, Diana Traylor Orange; two sons, Neal Orange of Bonaire, and Doug Orange of Belleville. one stepson, Chris Orange of Princeton: one stepdaughter, Makia Watson of Princeton; one brother.

Murphey was retired from Firestone Tire Production Co. and May Department Stores. She was a member of Wingo Church of Christ. Surviving are a son, Bob Murphey of Wingo; a sister, Dorothy Kelly of Paducah; 4 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, H.B.

Lawrence York. 90, of Benton died at 10:45 a.m. Monday at Marshall County Hospital. Mr. York was a self employed mechanic and a member Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a P.O.W. of the Battle of the Bulge. Surviving are his wife, Margaret E. "Sis" Darnall York; three daughters, Bobbie Watkins and Peggy Boddy, both of Benton, and Trisha Waddell of Hardin; two brothers, Charlie York and Paul York, both of Benton; four sisters, Lena Donahoo and Cora Uzzle, both of Calvert City, Helen Culp of Paducah and Ruthie Ford of Benton; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Russell York and Ronnie York; a sister; three brothers; and a grandchild. His parents were Floyd York and Ocie York. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Collier Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Littrell and the Rev.

Robert Peek and Camilla Hempstead officiating. Mr. Peek died Saturday at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. A U.S.

Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, he served 30 years and retired from the Air Force Communications Agency at Scott AFB, where he was employed as a defense contractor. Mr. Peek was a member of Scott AFB Chief's Group, Air Force Sergeant's Association and the American Legion. Surviving are his wife, Patty Fitzgerald Peek; one daughter, Tricia Brown of O'Fallon; one son, Todd Peek of Shiloh; three brothers, the Rev. Robert Peek of Winston-Salem, N.C., George Peek of Kernsville, N.C., and Corky Peek of Eddyville; four sisters, Sandy Kerns of Kernsville, Diane Phelps and Donna P'Pool, both of Kuttawa, and Cathy Peek of Alton; one grandson; one aunt; two uncles; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
