Co. reports its upholstered furniture plant and fabric warehouse in Xenia contributed significantly to world's largest upholstered furniture maker's progress during 1972. Kroehler's Xenia facilities, employing 246 area residents, are key contributors to a furniture company that today span from coast to coast, operates i a a a a Mexico, and numbers 6,000 skilled craftsmen.

Under the direction of Chester plant manager, Xenia's upholstered furniture plant serves a six-state area and manufactures sofas and chairs for Kroehler's contemporary "Avant," traditional "Classic" and early American "Cape Cod" product lines. J. A. Bires is manager of the fabric warehouse here, which supplies upholstery fabrics to all Kroehler upholstered furniture manufacturing plants in the i States. KROEHLER purchases about eight million yards of fabric annually for use in the production of upholstered living room and family room furniture.

Now drawing to a close, 1972 has marked "a year of the consumer" at Kroehler, where company wide programs stressed product improvement and efforts to provide more product information to homemakers. "Kroehler People Care" will be the dominant theme in 1973 when the company commemorates its 80th anniversary, and it is designed to convey this quality first policy. The year began i Kroehler being presented the Innovator Award for efforts in the consumerism e- ment.by the National Home Furnishings Representatives Association in recognition of Kroehler's "tangible efforts to generate and encourage consumer awareness." A MAJOR step toward protecting and educating consumers, was taken by Kroehler this year when the company announced new information tag that will be affixed to every, piece furniture upholstered in a performance tested fabric. This tag identifies the 10 most problematic types of bug' term wear tests performed by Kroehler. The seal ib the consumer's assurance that the fabric has satisfactorily passed each test and is guaranteed for the 10 points for one year from the date of retail sale.

Creswell, who founded the company in 1936, developed the simple center line road striper but soon adopted the road edge markers first used in Ohio and now seen across the nation and the world. Machines are sold in all 50 a Canada and more than 21 foreign countries. Company striping devices are used at municipal and US. military air bases where a 36-inch wide line can be applied on runways. One of the firm's machines, the multiliher, travels at legal highway speed and can apply one, two or three lines, solid or intermittent, in one or two colors, plus a pressured bead system to make the stripes visible at night.
