He decided he would try to carve a full-length human figure one foot high and eight inches wide. He carved from redwood, using an ancient devilish-looking Polynesian eod as a model. laynes has completed sixty pieces of this type of art since he began. He has given many of his works to friends and relatives and he has also sold several. Prices range from $10 to $35.

Many of the items that are to be exhibited have already been sold. The hardest part of sculptur- 1 ing, according to Jaynes, is finding an idea or a subject. The rest, he says, is easy, laynes has had no professional training. He met Emilio Caballero, head of the WTSC art department, through friends in Pampa who were taking art courses from him. It was through Caballero's efforts that art work was brought to the campus for this exhibit.
