Edward is survived by daughter Alicja, son Ted, son-in-law Marvin Kwitko, daughter-in-law Brenda Zakrzewski and grandchildren Lara and Adam Kwitko and Lynn and Jill Zakrzewski. He was predeceased by his brothers Zbigniew, Tadeusz, Jerzy and his parents, Leokadja and Feliks. Dunne WWII, he served since 1940 in France, U.K. ana Italy with the Polish Armed Forces (in exile) as a Captain Pilot. He was awarded French, British and Polish decorations and was honorably discharged in 1948.

Edward worked for 38 years as a mechanical designer with several Consulting Engineering Firms in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Montreal and Calgary. Many thanks to Dr. Man Chiu Poon and nurses at the Tom Baker Cancer Day Clinic for their dedication and care. Theodore Brown Rasmussen on Wednesday, January 23, 2002. He is predeceased by his most beloved wife, Catherine Archibald, and brothers Wally and Carl He will be lovingly remembered by his sister Charlotte Roberts of Newport Beach, California, and his close knit family Donald of Ottawa, Ruth Colman (Jim), Mary Rasmussen (Roy Cook), Linda Rasmussen (Steve Hcckbeit) and his very special grandchildren Jeremy, Megan, Emma, Katie, Anthony, Andrea and Dylan of Calgary. Ted was bom in Provo, Utah, in 1910, the son of the late Gertrude Brown and Dr. Andrew Theodore Rasmussen. As a neurosurgeon and former director of the Montreal Neurological Institute, Ted developed lifelong friendships while training doctors from around the world.

He is seen, along with doctors Wilder Penfield, William Cone, Arthur Elvidge and Herb Jasper, as a pioneer in the field of neurological sciences. He was revered by his students, many of whom are still practicing in countries around the globe. Ted obtained his medical degree at the University of Minnesota in 1934 and trained in neurology and neurosurgery at the Montreal Neurological Institute and the Mayo Clinic. He then served his country in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during WW as Lieutenant-Colonel and Chief of the neurosurgical sections of two front-line hospitals in the China-India-Burma Theatre.

After the war, Ted accepted the Chair of Neurological Surgery at the University of Chicago. In 1 954. he returned to the MNI and McGill University in his adopted country of Canada, and succeeded Dr. Penfield as Director of the MNI in 1960. Ted is best remembered for his meticulous work on the surgical treatment of epilepsy and his compilation of an unparalleled database of information concerning this neurological problem.

During Ted's college and medical school days, he played professional jazz clarinet and saxophone, was an outstanding long-distance runner, and an excellent skier and goiter. These interests continued throughout his life. Ted's passion for his career and many interests never overshadowed his devotion to family and friends. Some of his fondest memories stem from over forty summers with his very special friends of Toncy River, Nova Scotia, All who knew Ted were touched by his wisdum, modesty and gentleness. He was president of Boston College High School from 1988 to 1998 and became a member of the boards of trustees of the Catholic Schools Foundation, He was a trustee of several Jesuit Institutions, including the Iyola University of Chicago, and served on the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education for the New England Ion of Schools and Colleges. At the time of his death, he was provincial assistant for finance of the New England Province for the Jesuit order.
