Gwen was proud to have been a VON nurse, and during her early married life was a year round resident of the Eastern Artic, 1959-1965 and friend and admirer of the Inuit. Passed away peacefully in Laval on September 9, 1999 at the age of sixty-six, surrounded by her loved ones, after a long and courageous battle with illness. She leaves to mourn her beloved husband Bernard Dansereau, her sons Pierre, Guy (Jocelyne Lapointe) and her daughter Lise, her sisters Celine (Bernard Heroux), Suzanne (the late Guy Le Siege), her brother Michel, her sister-in-law Alma Martel (the late Dr. Gerard Hamel), as well as numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces, relatives and friends.

In the course of her active life Monique founded and was President of Rassemblement des Familles Hamel d'Amerique in 1981 and the leader of the Creation de 'Association des Familles Hamel for the reunion for the 325th Anniversary of the arrival of their first ancestors in Quebec. Died peacefully in her sleep with husband Edward Gates ciose by her side at Centre Hospitalier Lachine on September 7, 1999 at 12:30 a.m. at age seventy-five. She will always be cherished by her family and many friends. She is survived by her husband and three sisters Lucette, MarieLaure and Vivianne, together with many nieces, nephews and very close family friends. Ginette will be remembered for her openhearted generosity, kindness and continual joviality.

The sound of her laughter will echo throughout the house in Beaconsfield where so many had come to know and appreciate her hospitality. Born in Winnipeg, he came to the Island of Montreal from Saskatoon in 1937 and remained until 1974 with the exception of four years spent in Ontario.

In 1974 he moved to Victoria. Gordon was a chemist (Ph.D., McGill), educator, administrator and author. In Montreal, he taught chemistry at the High School of Montreal, Sir George Williams College and McGill University. Later, he was engaged in management training and development, first at Canadian Industries Lid. and then on his own.

While in Ontario, he worked for the National Research Council at the Chalk River nuclear project, then for the federal government in Ottawa, where he established radiation monitoring and control in Canada. Strongly attached to his family and an active member of his church and other organizations, he was a Fellow of the Chemical Institute of Canada and a life member of the Canadian Club. Gardening and reading were favorite pastimes. He is survived by his son, Murray (Anna), of Edmonton, his daughter, Ann Taylor (Lonald), of Mill Bay, B.C., four grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren. His wife, Kathleen, died in 1975.

A memorial service was held at Gordon Head United Church, Victoria, on August 18. We must laugh before we are happy, for fear we die before we laugh at all. JESSOP, Nanette (nee Clark). Peacefully at St. Mary's Hospital on September 6, 1999, devoted wife of Ronald and loving mother to Rhonda (David). Ena will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren whom she dearly loved and cherished. She will be warmly remembered by many family members and friends. Her outstanding spirit and zest for life will live on forever. The fight with no reward. In tears we saw you sinking, We watched you fade away, Our hearts were almost broken, You fought so hard to stay.

But when we saw you sleeping So peacefully from pain, We could not wish you back again, To suffer that again. God lowered down His gentle hand, And took your soul away, up into the heavens To be with Him, you'll stay.
