Peter Hynes, said he could not comment on the lawsuit because "our lawyers have not yet seen it." The lawsuit, filed at federal court in Manhattan, named both Unisys and Sperry as defendants. Douglas, star of more than 70 films, including "Tough Guys," "Spartacus" and "The Champion," claimed he' was told his contract would not be termi- rr llion for lost profits. According to court papers; Douglas "devoted great effort and time, far beyond the requirements of the contract, working on Sperry's behalf," and charged Unisys and Spen-y "are gaining the benefits Tof Douglas's work while repudiating their obligation to him." Court papers claimed Douglas interrupted filming of "Tough Guys" to write, produce and act in a Sperry promotional film. natecT'if the Sperry product line or corporate Identity survived an acquisition or merger." Citing the continued market-' lng of products bearing the Sperry name and logo, the lawsuit claimed Unisys and Sperry "continue to benefit by the goodwill for Sperry which Douglas worked so hard to create." Thursday for firing him as' Sperry Corp. spokesman after the company was purchased by Burroughs Corp. Douglas served as Sperry's corporate spokesman, making public appearances and television commercials, from October 1985 until it was acquired by Burroughs on Sept.

Douglas claimed Sperry had agreed to hire him as spokesman for a minimum of two years, beginning Oct. 14, 1985, for $2.5 million.
