Muscatine, Journal. Feb. 1, 1966 Obituaries and Funerals EDWARD C. BERSCH Edward C. (Dude) Bersch, 74, 1002 East 2nd died at 2:15 a.m.

today at the Oakwood nursing home after an extended illness. nf Mr. Bersch was born Feb. 26, 1891, the son of Anton and Pauline Wirtz Bersch, and was a life resident of the Muscatine area. Mr.

Bersch was a surveyor and fieldman. Prior to his retirement he had been employed by Stanley Engineering Company and the Muscatine County Engineer's office. He was married May 31, 1915, at St. Mary's church, Muscatine, to Nellie L. Stapleton.

Surviving are the widow; one son, E. Gene Bersch of Muscatine; one daughter, Mrs. Jack (Helene) Sheard of Indianapolis, one sister, Mrs. Gertrude Christopherson of Muscatine; three grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. The body is at the Riley funeral home, where the rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.

Sunday. Services will be held at 10 a. m. Monday a St. Mary's church.

Interment will be at Greenwood cemetery. MRS. VERA SCHREUERS Funeral services for Mrs. Vera Schreurs, 61, were held at 1:30 p. m.

today at the Ralph J. Wittich funeral home. Rev. Thomas Doyle officiated. Mrs, Floyd Scott was the organist.

Pallbearers were Ernie Na ber. Jack Roelle, Leo LaCroix and Ellsworth Garvin. Interment was at Greenwood cemetery. Mrs. Schreurs died Wednesday morning at Muscatine General hospital.

HARRIS VAN WINKLE WAPELLO Harris Van Winkle, 77, of Wapello, died Friday at St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids. The son of George and Mary Ann Schetz Van Winkle, he was born Oct. 15, 1888 at Brighton. He married Nellie May Young on June 17, 1914 at Wapello.

Survivors include two children, Robert Van Winkle of Concord, Calif, and Ruth Marie Cannon of Cedar Rapids; and one brother Eddie Van Winkle of Cedar Rapids. Eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive. Four brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held Sunday, Feb. 20, at 2 p.m.

at the Dudgen McCulley funeral home in Wapello, with Rev. Robert Dodder officiating. Interment will be at the Wapello cemetery. Orono Township Farm Bureau Orono Township Farm Bureau members met Thursday evening beginning with a potluck supper at 6:30 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Murphy. There were 12 adults in attendance. Donald Buckman, chairman, presided for routine business.

today at Muscatine General hospital. A retired farmer, Mr. Sissel was a life resident of Muscatine county. He was born Sept. 5, 1899, in Muscatine county, the son of William L.

and Lena Stormer Sissel. He was married Dec. 12, 1924, in Muscatine, to Bernice Godfrey, Mr. Sissel was a member of the Presbyterian church of Pleasant Prairie. Surviving are the widow, Mrs, Bernice Sissel; one son, Warren C.

Sissel of Stockton; one daughter, Miss Ann Sissel of Orlando, one brother, W. A. Sissel of Davenport; a sister, Mrs. Floyd Nicewanner of Stockton; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister The body is now at the Fairbanks home for funerals, where friends may call after 7 this evening.

Services will be held at 2 p. m. Monday at the Fairbanks chapel with Rev. Leo Jeambey officiating. Interment will be at the Parr cemetery.

MIS5 NORA TAYLOR Funeral services for Miss Nora Taylor, 90, were held at 2 p.m. today at the Fairbanks chapel. Rev. R. O.

Hopkins of Davenport officiated. Mrs. Eva Kramer was the organist. Pallbearers were John Monroe, Harvey Lamb, Merle Lloyd and Fred Jackson. Interment was at Greenwood cemetery.

Miss Tayof died Feb. 16 at Riverview Heights nursing home. FLORENCE KLOTZ COLUMBUS JUNCTION Miss Florence Klotz 86, of Wapello died at noon Friday at St. Paul, Minn. She was a retired school teacher.

The daughter of Madison and Lucy Jane Kelly Klotz, she was born Dec. 13, 1879 at Columbus Junction. Survivors include one brother, Madison W. Klotz of Gib sonville, N. C.

Eastern Star School Held At Letts LETTS The school of instruction for the order of Eastern Star number 370 was held Tuesday afternoon, with Elsie Miller of New London, the instructor in charge. Williams Is Assigned To Viet Nam WAPELLO Lt. Bill Williams, Wapello, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Williams, has returned from Ft. Bragg, N.

C. where he was undergoing training prior to his deployment to the Republic of Viet Nam. Lt. Williams is a member of the United States Army's Special Forces and will be assigned to the 5th Special Forces Group (AB) upon his arrival in Viet Nam. Car Wrecked, Two Escape Serious Hurts Occupants of a car that went out of control at the east edge of West Liberty on highway 6 after 2 a.m.

today escaped with minor injuries but the car was demolished. The car traveled off the highway for 250 feet, Sheriff Dick Oppelt said. Both sides, the hood and the front end of the car were damaged. Both had scratches Residents of Oakville To Vote on Franchise OAKVILLE A special election will be held at the Oakville town hall, March 3. Polls will be open from 8 a. m. to 8 p. m.

The election will determine whether to grant a franchise for natural gas and electric service into Oakville. Representatives from Iowa Southern Utilities met with the Oakville Town Council recently about their franchise. Prior to that time, solicitation of the town homes was done by the utility company. On March 10, a special election will be held at the town hall to vote on the telephone franchise from the Iowa Telephone company, formerly the Iowa Illinois Telephone company.
