Following training with the Red Cross she went to England to serve with the F.A.N.Y.s during World War II. On her return in 1945, she married Robert V. V.

Nicholls. They both enjoyed years of world-wide travel and volunteer community, activities in Montreal and Merrickville, Ontario. Nora predeceased by Robert her husband of sixty-one years in March 2007.
