JACK TRACY Correspondent West Liberty "The Christian church of West Lid erty will celebrate its Centennial Year in 1963, said Joe Wright, chairman of the board for two years and board memoer 101 eiym vt The fii'st meetings of tnis church began in 1S63 at the school house near the home ol W. Phillips in the South Prairie community with twenty one members.

In the spt'inp; of 1868 a church building was acquired and Rev. J. B. Vawter became the lirst resident minister in 1869. Rev.

Joe Wright was bom at THIRD FLOOR Sioux City. on January 1919 a nf I hp Lake Citv high school, he received a B.6, degree from Iowa State university 1942, an agriculture education major. He has done graduate unrv at Tnwa State and is pres ently working on his Masters of Education. Mr.

Wright and his wife, Feme wore married on November 20, 1943 at Winfield. They came to' West Liberty ih 1952 from Dixon. Activities A charter member of the West Liberty Lions club, he is also past president of the local club and of the Chariton, Iowa club. A member of the south central district the Iowa Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association, he was district chairman in 1948 49, and secretary treasurer in 1961 62. He is also, a director on the West Liberty Fair Board.

Vocational Agriculture instructor at the West Liberty high school, Wright enjoys playing bridge and outdoor cooking in his spare time. He and his family reside at 509 East Third street. Merrill Cook and Kenneth Albaugh ot Des Moines, were recent visitors ol Mr. Lee Forsyth, who is a patient at the Hawker Nursing Home in West Liberty. Miss Ethel Case returned to Long Beach, Sunday after a visit with friends and relatives. Miss Case had accompanied her sister, Miss Bertha Babbitt of Solon who had become ill upon her arrival California. Dr.

Hinkhouse Speaks to ALCW At W. Liberty West Liberty The ALCW members of Our Redeemer Lutheran church were hostesses to the women of Bettiany Lutheran church, West Branch. Friday evening at 8 p. m. The local ALCW met briefly at 7:15 for a business meeting.

Dr. Myrtle Hinkhouse was the guest speaker for the evening. A medical missionary, she spoke on her many experiences in unna, where she served for 30 years. Special music was presented by Mrs. James Chandler, Mrs.

Lund Madsen, Mrs. Everett Kline, and Miss Anne Hawley. entitled, "Were You There?" Devotions, "Our Garden of Prayer." was given by Mrs. John Waller and Mrs. Roy Hell enthal with worship rneddtation by Mrs.

Walter Weiss. Hostesses included Mrs. Carl Geertz, Mrs. Harold Madsen, Mrs. Mary Petersen, Mrs.

George Nopoulos Wednesday evening, April 4. Assisting Mrs. George Nopoulos as hostess was Mrs. Ruth Schneck loth. The birthday cake, baked and decorated by Mrs.

Forrest Dice, with arrangements of snapdragons centered the dinner table. Easter egg favor 'name cards and decorations in the Easter theme were used. Guests for the 6:00 o'clock dinner and party which followed were the honoree, Mrs. Charles Schneckloth, Mrs. Hans Cars tens, Mrs.

Harold Sorgenfry, Mrs. Forrest Dice, Mrs. Harry Griffith, Mrs. Harry Freeland, Mrs Alfred Lenker, Mrs Wayne Ford, Mrs. Pat Ford, Mrs.

Herbert. Fick, Mrs. Earl Budelicr, Mrs, Lillie Maurer; Mrs. Albert Osmus. Mrs.

Fred Gruemmer of Durant, Mrs. Marie Tumey of Muscatine, and the hostesses. Also, Mr. George Nopoulo's, Pete, Gus, Nicky, and Peggy Nopoulos. Court Whist was played during the evening with prizes going to Mrs.

Harry Freeland, Mrs. Wayne Ford and Mrs. Lillie Maurer. The traveling prize, a box of chocolates, went to Mrs. Ruth Schneckloth.

A birthday cake baked by Mrs. Nopoulos' granddaughter, Peggy, was served at the dinner. Gifts were presented to the honoree, which were opened and Subscribe to The Journal today Morning Sun Athletes to Be Honored Morning Sun The annual banquet honoring the athletic teams and coaches of the Morning Sun High School will be held at the high school on April 18. The event is sponsored by ihe Morning Sun Lions club. This will be a cooperative buffet dinner with a program to follow.

The public is invited to' attend and share in this recognition of the high school athletics. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wilson have received, word of the promotion of their son, Bob Wilson, from the rank of F. N.

to the rank of BT 3. Wilson returned March 4 from an extended cruise on the U.S.S. Yorktown and spent several weeks in Long Beach, Calif. On April 27 he will leave with his ship for a cruise to the Christmas Islands. Wilson enlisted three years ago.

To Fort Bra Pvt. Larry Secrest, who entered the service Nov. of 1961, 1 has been assigned to permanent duty at Fort Bragg. N. C.

Pve. Secrest took his basic" training at Fort Collins, Colo. He then qualified as a mechanic for heavy equipment and in January was assigned to Fort Bragg. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
