Evans does not attach any unusual significance to it. "A show is good, if it's good," Evans declared. "Maybe there are other factors, but I don't recognize them." What he accepts is that these shows are making it in a highly competitive market without an overreaction from the same quarters that for so long kept doors closed to black humor. Evans is not merely content to ride the crest of his popularity in the series. He says he wants to expand. He wants to sing, compose and create. He did create "Good Times," and wrote four episodes. J. character (played by Jimmie Walker in "Good Times") a reflection on his own younger days. "It was me as a kid except he (Walker) is tall and skinny," Evans said. "I was short and fat, and when you're built like that as a kid you're either ostracized completely, or you talk a lot to overcome any lack of confidence." It explains his interest in the performing arts. At UCLA, he majored in the arts, also minored in psychology.
