Swan assisted the hostess. The program was a book review by Mrs. W. L. Copeland.

The book she reviewed was "A Nation of Strangers" by Vance Packard, written in 1972. In her review she stated that Packard was reported on American manners and mores in previous books, such as "The Status Seekers," "The Hidden Persuaders," "Waste Makers" and others. He researched this particular book for four years. She said he finds that there is a break down in community living, a shattering of small group life. He also finds that we are confronted with a society "that is coming apart at the seams." Mrs.

Copeland commented that although highly readable, it is a solemn and thoughtful book, and one that should be read by personnel directors, corporation presidents and community leaders. The next meeting will be at 2 p.m. Feb. 13at the home of Mrs. John Ogan, 805 10th St.
