20 Soturdoy, September 17, 1966 The Ottawa Journal Browns-Packers Game Tops U.S. Pro Weekend By JACK HAND Associated Pirns Sports Writer Cleveland's home opener wllh Green Bay Packers Sunday should give clue lo the Browns' chances of going all the way without all -pro fullback Jim Brown. The rematch of the 1966 National Football League championship game tops the week's U.S. pro football program. In addition to the pairing of Green Bay, 1-0.

at Cleveland, 1-0, other NFL Sunday games include Baltimore Colts, 0-1, at Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants 0-1 at Dallas Cowboys, 0-0. Washington Redskins, 0-1, at Pittsburgh Steelers 0-1, and Atlanta Falcons 0-1, at Philadelphia Eagles, 0-1. The meeting of two unbeaten eastern division powers, Houston Oilers, 2-0, and New York Jets, 1-0, at Shea Stadium and the opening of the new Oakland-Alameda County Stadium with Kansas City Chiefs, 1-0. at Oakland Raiders, 1-1, are the big events on Sunday's four-game American Football League chart Other games find Boston Patriots. 0-1.

at Denver Brokers, 0-1. and Miami Dolphins, 0-2, at Buffalo Bills. 0-2. Cleveland warmed up for its big game with the Packers by rolling over Washington 38-14 on second-half comeback last week. However, the Packers thumped Baltimore Colts 24-3 and looked sharp with an alert defence, fine passing by quarterback Bart Starr and strong running by fullback Jim Taylor.

Baltimore, anxious to wipe out the memories of the opener, will start John i a at quarterback against the Vikings in Minnesota's first home game. Unitas needs only two more touchdown passes to tie Y. A. Tittle's NFL record of 212. Tittle played with Los Angeles Rams and New York.

Dallas expects to sell out the Cotton Bowl for the Cowboys' opener against the Giants. Dallas romped through the pre-season schedule with a 5-0 record but drew a bye last week. The Giants got away with a 34-34 tie in Pittsburgh. The Cardinals will be shooting for a second straight victory at home against Otto Graham's hungry Redskins who have added Steve Thurlow from the Giants to boost their running attack. Detroit, upset winner over Chicago Bears last week, will send Milt Blum and Tom Nowatzke after the Steelers.

Joe Kuharich of Philadelphia approaches the Atlanta game cautiously, remembering that the Eagles barely beat the Falcons 9-7, Aug. 1. The Oilers and Jets probably will draw 60.000 at Shea Stadium with Joe Nameth passing for New York and Big Ernie Ladd trying to crush him to the turf. Oakland hopes to get off on the right foot in its new stadium but the Chiefs looked formidable in a 42-20 victory over Buffalo. The Raiders must bounce back strong frpm a 31-0 shutout in Houston.

Rifles Top Beavers In Overtime TORONTO (UPI) Ollie Dunlap" intercepted Ron Di-gravio's pass and ran 20 yards for a touchdown at 9:32 of the first overtime period to give the Toronto Rifles a 36-30 victory over the Montreal Beavers Friday night in a Continental Football League game. Dunlap's touchdown came on the first play after Toronto's Dick Zigrino missed a 22-yard field goal which would have given the Rifles the win. A 36-yard touchdown pass from Tom Wilkinson to Dick Limmerick late in the fourth quarter sent the game into overtime. However the Rifles could have won it in regulation time had Zigrino been successful on the conversion attempt.

The victory, watched by 12.187. shot the Rifles into first place in the eastern division, with a record of four wins and one loss. Montreal has two wins and three losses, good enough for third place in the western division. Other Toronto touchdowns were scored by Joe Williams, Bob Blakely and Harold Mc-Cowan. Zigrino managed three conversions and one field goal.

Montreal scorers were Roger Lopes, Olvin Moreland, who caught two touchdown passes, and Ronnie Lamb, who returned a kickoff 94 yards. Lou Bobich added a field goal and three conversions. in 1 1 1 -) Cl hi i- I.
