J. A. Rhodda, returned home from Abilene Monday where he went Saturday to have his tonsils removed by Drs. Conk-lin and Shank. Loranie's hearing was quite badly affected last week but he is' much better since the removal, the tonsils.

Last week in publishing the list of directors of the Farmers Elevator we omitted the name of Alex Taylor. Davis McCuilough says the blame is entirely on our shoulders but we will bet him a white mule against a humpbacked, double jointed peanut that he never gave us Mr. Taylor's name. Miss Florence Burke won third prize in the declamatory contest held in Abilene Friday night. Her grade was 92.

Delilah Swad-er of Enterprise, was awarded first and Jessie Whipple, of Hope, second. There were five contestants and all did fine. Miss Maude Riordan rendered two vocal solos. J. P.

Sullivan, who recently moved from Solomon to his farm west, of town, was on the streets Saturday telling his friends how well he liked the simple life. He said Mrs. Sullivan had to do quite a bit of coaxing to get him to come to town. His 100 acres of wheat are looking fine and he says he failed to find any indications of fly in it. The following Solomon people were in Lindsborg Sunday attending the Messiah': Mrs.

E. R. Stein, Mrs. Chas. Henning, Misses Iva Monk, Jennie Johnson Margaret Holland, Irene Carlson, Amy Bailey and Marjorie Whitley Messrs.

Ray Lee, Philip Carlson, Hugh Spaulding, and Ted Stark. was the attraction and all were greatly pleased with her singing. Last year the dandelions had no worse enemy than I. Henderson, who resides at the corner of fourth and Poplar. It was seldom we passed his place that we did not see him in the yard waging war on the pests.

Mr. Henderson has been in Excelsior Springs for several weeks and we miss him greatly, especially since the yellow flowers have Mrs'. Will West of Manhattan is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm.

Mrs. Lu'u Bancroft came in from Kansas City Monday afternoon to care for James Andrews. Mr. Andrew's condition is very critical and physicians entertain little hopes for his recovery. Mike Berry has moved to Niles to take charge of his pool hall.

Gale Mobley, night operator at the Union Pacific, has rented the Mahonev property which Mr. Berry vacated. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Robinson returned to Junction City last Thursday after a visit with friends.

Mrs.Robison's aunt, Mrs. Ed Dingee of Minneapolis, accompanied them. The W. W. are drifting in early this year.

Martin will continue to rent the property Mr. Doidge will probably "move his family to Solomon later on. The people of Solomon who depend on cisterns for drinking water heartily welcomed that one-half inch of rain which fell Saturday morning. A number of the cisterns were dry. Chas.

Dobson has done his part towards the Memorial Day program. He was to secure a person to give the Gettysburg ad-, dress. He has engaged Geo. Higgin3 to do the J. T.

0 Brien was in Saturday and had us print bills for a public sale which he will hold at his farm on Tuesday. April 25th. Mr. OBrien is selling off a number of horses, cattle and several pieces of farm machinery. Mrs.

L. L. Blair, of Kansas City but formerly of Solomon, is here visiting friends and looking after her real estate interests south of town. The committee which was named to select a speaker for Decoration day have secured Senator Harry McMillan of Minneapolis. Mr.

McMillan is a splendid talker and we will hear an interesting address. The Catholic Ladies Aid will meet at the K. of C. hall on Wednesday, April. 26th.

But if the Rev. continues to make things as interesting for us as he did last Sunday we don't know but what we will regret the closing of the sentence. Plasterers, painters and paper hangers are making a different looking hotel out of the Montezuma. The dining room has been re-plastered and papered, the office is going to receive a coat of paint, likewise both halls. The interior of this place will hardly be recognizable when the decorators depart.

Geo. Dobson will soon begin the erection of a store room for the Golden Belt Garage. It will be 28x30 in size and will stand directly in the rear of the garage proper but across the alley. This building will be used for the storage of cars and will be fitted up with a wash rack and pump. When this bnilding is completed the Golden Bait boys will have much more room in their work shop.
