IOC--Nov. 26, 1972 By Bob Baker A rules workshop conducted by American Bowling Congress field representative Bob Lynch and a three- jrame singles tournament will feature the sixth annual Kanawha Valley Bowling- Assn. jamboree slated for Dec. 10 at Towne 'n Country Lanes in Nitro. "Each ABC sanctioned league should be represented by one male authorized league delegate," state KVBA secretary Jim Carson.

"Tardy leagues should attend meeting but will lot be eligible to bowl in the tournament if their league has not applied for a sanction at that time." We've attended several bowling jamborees in the past and feel that they are well worth your time if you are interested in bowling. If you have any questiois at all about bowling rules aad procedures, you can ask them of ABC representative Lynch. After the workshop, everybody always has a good time in the singles tournament. "KVBA officers, honored guests, proprietors and bowling proprietors assn. officers and one male authorized delegate from each sanctioned league will be eligible for the tournament.

This tourney is for bowling workers and is not intended to be an all-star 1 Carson said. There is no entry fee for the tourney and trophies will be given to both the actual and handicap winners. The KVBA jamboree will last from 1:15 to 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10.

Carson asks all league delegates to make their reservations with him by Dec. 8. Given Big Hand on 76th Birthday "Walt was given big hand celebrating his 76th birthday," writes Dunbar Businessmen League secretary Hugh Turner. (AP) Awesome Otu Armstrong closed out his spectacular career at Purdue Saturday, becoming the greatest rusher Big Ten history as the Boilermakers, stung Indiana, 45-7, in the 48th renewal of the Old Oaken Bucket football rivalry. Armstrong piled up 276 yards in 32 carries, besting his pre- i Purdue single-game record of 233 yards. The 5-foot-ll, 195-pound senior shocked the Hoosiers with touchdown sprints of 2, 71 and 53 yards as he wound up a three-year varsity career with a total of 3,310 yards.

That shattered the previous conference record, of 3,212 yards turned in by Wisconsin All- America Alan Ameche in a four-year span. A less than capacity crowd of 65,065 in Purdue's Ross-Ade Stadium gave Armstrong a standing ovation when he left the game with 3:54 remaining. Armstrong finished his career as the sixth best rusher in National Collegiate Athletic Association history, passing such noted runners as Southern California's 0. J. Simpson, San I a i Ollie Matson, Ameche and Southern Cal's Mike Garrett.

The victory gave Purdue a 2 Big Ten record and 6-5 overall while Indiana slipped to 3-5 in the conference and 5-6 over- ail. OPEN NIGHTS Until 8:30 P.M. Open Sunday 12 to 6P.M. Until Christmas FOUNTAIM HOBBY CENTER CtmerW. Wnk.
