(See Monday TV Movies.) "THE MADWOMAN OF CHAILLOT," (1969) **Va. Despite an all- star cast, which boasts the inimitable Katharine Hepburn, plus Yul Brynner, Danny Kaye, Dame Edith Evans, Charles Boyer, Claude Dauphin, Guilietta Masina, Richard Chamberlain, Margaret Leighton, Oscar Homolka, and Donald Pleasance, this screen version of Jean Giradpux's "too-too" whitty tale about a group of super-eccentrics who take it upon themselves to save the city of Paris from the currupt promoters and crass businessmen falls decidedly flat. What may have seemed like vintage wine on stage comes off as stale beer on film, but there are individual moments from the celebrated array that, will ease the boredom for those diehard star-gazers among you who won't be able to resist tuning in. 9p.m., O©©©© "MAN IN THE WHITE SUIT," (1951) ****, with Alee Guinness and Joan Greenwood. Furore'in a textile plant when a young scientist invents a cloth material that will not tear or become dirty. One of the wittiest, most ingenious comedies in years! 9 p.m..® "WOMAN OF STRAW," (1964) **V 2 , with Gina Lollobrigida and Sean Connery. If you don't examine the plot too closely, you may enjoy this well-dressed murder 'mystery starring sex symbols Lollobrigida and Connery. However, the two smoldering stars are completely upstaged by veteran pro Ralph Richardson, who plays the stuffings out of a wheelchair-bound millionaire with some eccentric views on life. 11:30 p.m., CD "SON OF FRANKENSTEIN," (1939) ***, with Boris Karloff and Basil Rathbone. The new Baron Von Frankenstein learns that his father's monster is running loose, and tries to catch up with the fiend. Lavishly produced, plenty of spine- tingling thrills. 11:30 p.m., QD "CALLIING NORTHSIDE 777," (1947) "*"z. with James Stewart and Lee .1. Cobb. E x c i t i n g , fast paced story of a newspaperman who proves a man i n n o c e n t by probing an eleven-year-old case history. A bit implausible towards the end. but y o u ' l l l i k e it. 11:45 p.m..O ^ "REMEMBER THE DAY," (1941) ***, with Claudette Colbert and John Payne. The ladies should like this sentimental story of a teacher's life, her guidance of one pupil and her unhappy romance. 3:15 a.m.,O "JACKPOT," .(1950) *"'/ 2 . with James Stewart and Barbara Hale. Average man wins a fabulous radio-quiz jackpot (in pre-scandal days) and finds his life'and wife radically-changed-, but not for the better. Very funny. 4:45 a.m., O ; -Julv II: KITti-SiindaYfirKr/t
