By Bob Baker Towne 'n Country Lanes in Nitro has. purchased an electronic scoring system to be installed on its bowling lanes sometime next winter, properietor Dave Sadd said last week. "We will be only the third or fourtn bowling house in the nation to have this electronic system," Sadd said. "We will be the first establishment in West Virginia to install it." The automatic scoring device is called MagicScore and is a new version being produced by the AMF company. Installation has been promised by the manufacture in January, 1977, Sadd said. "There are control panels below and the scores appear on television-like screens up above," Sadd commented. "Everything is automatic on the Mag- icScore except for using a finger to push a button to record what each ball does. For . instance, if a bowler knocks down seven pins, you would push the seven button. There are also buttons for strikes and spares and misses," Sadd said. Features of the automatic machine are listed as follows: Flashing arrows on the screen automatically tell each bowler when it's his time to bowl and what lane to use. The complete name of the bowler who's up appears on the screen for the lane he is to use. The blind bowler's score is automatical- ·ly added proportionally frame by frame and added into the team totals in the same manner. Instant comparison. While a score is not added until a bowler completes the frame, the value of each mark is immediately Jets Trade 2 To Raiders NEW YORK (AP) - The New York Jets traded running back Carl Garrett and safety Steve Tannen to the Oakland Raiders Saturday for National Football League draft choices. The number of choices was not disclosed. The Jets also announced they have waived quarterback Al Woodall. Garrett, a seven-year veteran from New Mexico Highlands, carried the ball 122 times last year for 566 yards, second to John Riggin's club-high 1,005 yards, and scored five touchdowns. added to team totals so everyone can see up-to-the-second team vs. team totals at all times. . Corrections.are made easily and quickly. The display and permanent recordindi- cate wherever a change in score has been made. ·'Bowling out of turn is easy. Just push a button. Once a bowler's out-of-turn frame is bowled, the MagicScore resumes it automatic rotation. "Seventeen seconds after a game is over, the machine gives a complete printout of the game," Sadd said.
