Time» Service NEW YORK-The four-day strike of nonmedical workers at 33 private, nonprofit hospitals in the metropolitan area spread Saturday to 14 nursing homes and 10 municipal hospitals, but the impact of the widened walkout appeared to be slight. Negotiations remained at a standstill. As picket lines appeared outside the nursing homes and some city hospitals, a union spokesman said that 5,000 more workers had joined the 30,000 who walked out on Wednesday, and he called it the largest hospital labor dispute in the country's history. At least 19 persons were arrested for disorderly conduct or other offenses in and around picket lines Saturday, and the pol- · ice seized a Bronx man with a bottle of . gasoline near a garbage heap outside Bronx Lebanon Hospital in the early . morning. It was not immediately known whether he was a striker. There were some reports of vandalism, including slashed tires on doctors' cars, and some hospitals reported attempts by striking workers to interfere with deliveries of supplies. But the picketing was generally orderly, if noisy, and no serious injuries or damage were reported. large Palestinian refugee camps in northern Lebanon and were locked in "savage combat" with guerrillas. The report could not be independently confirmed. Damascus radio, monitored in Nicosia, Cyprus, put the death toll for the last three days at 3,866, the highest in the 15-month- old civil war that has claimed 32,000 lives by Lebanese estimates. Hospital officials estimated more than 200 persons were killed Saturday. The camps, Nahr el Bared and Badawi, are on the coast just north of the northern port of Tripoli Lebanon's second largest ,city. They are strongholds of radical Palestinians who have led guerrilla resistance to Syrian intervention in the Lebanese civil war. Right-wing Christian soldiers -- carrying brand new U.S. arms and riding in Russian vehicles -- made bloody assaults on leftist'positions from Beirut to Tripoli. The new arms have arrived by sea in the Christian enclave between Beirut and Tripoli during the past several weeks. Leftists claim the Christians are being resup- plied by Israel. Christians deny that, but will say only that they are buying arms on the open market. . ^ On the northern front, 55 miles from Beirut, Palestinians claimed Syria had strengthened its forces bombarding the- port of Tripoli, Lebanon's second largest city. Christians attacked south and east of the Palestinian-leftist stronghold at the port.A fire at an American-owned refinery near Sidon port in south Lebanon continued out of control. Guerrillas said the fire was set by Syrian shells fired Friday night from position just outside the city, another Palestinian-leftist stronghold. Fords Dine On British Royal Yacht NEWPORT, R.I. (AP) - President and Mrs. Ford were piped aboard the British royal yacht Britannia with full honors Saturday night to dine in regal elegance with Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. They flew here with 19-year-old daughter Susan, to attend the third formal dinner party they have been to with the British royal couple in the six days of the queen's Bicentennial visit to the United States. Prince Philip, the duke of Edinburgh, and the yacht's flag officer, Rear Adm. Hugh Janion, came to the gangway to welcome the Fords and escort them to the yacht's main foyer to meet the queen and proceed to the elegant, flower-decked dining room of the 412-foot, yacht. The 23-year-old yacht, in tiptop shape, has a royal blue hull, three-raked masts, a buff colored funnel and a slim band of gold leaf below the upper deck. Mrs. Ford, who canceled attendance at the queen's big dinner and garden party at the British embassy in Washington Thursday night, because she needed rest, had rested up and made it for the glamorous black-lie yacht party. The President had stopped in Plattsburgh, N.Y., earlier Saturday for a visit with the U.S. Olympic team to see some of them off and wish them good luck at the Summer Olympic Games scheduled to start in Montreal next Saturday. Mrs. Ford and Susan flew up separately to join the President at Newport. Sixteen Americans were on the queen's dinner guest list for the evening aboard the yacht. Then read on. A woman wearing a brown leather jack- et entered a self-service business asked for a pack of cigarettes, and then put something in the cash drawer. It was a cherry pie, the cashier said, and the filling included a robbery note. · As the cashier hit an alarm, the woman fled, passing an airport security car and flinging off her jacket. Security officer Mike Freeman said he approached the woman, who was hiding behind a sign. His report read like this: "Subject started toward me and I then noted subject was a female with no top on. Freeman also reported Friday that he saw a a muzzleloading pistol in the belt of the topless bandit. But wait, there's more. He said she also had black shoe polish on her face.
