"THE SHOCKING MISS PILGRAM," 10 a.m., cable channel 10. (See Monday TV Movies.) "THE PLEASURE OF HIS COMPANY," (1961) ·*%, with Fred Astaire and Debbie Reynolds. Debonair charmer returns home for his daughter's wedding but tries to break up the couple when he finds her to be attractive. Good cast takes advantage of some witty lines to give this comedy a fair amount of fun. 1:30 p.m., 09. "BILLIE," (1965) **, with Patty Duke and Jim Backus. Fans who enjoyed Patty Duke's TV series will accept her in this family comedy about a young miss who's a wizard in all athletic endeavors. Her prowess on the track field makes her unpopular with the boys, her dad and a variety of other stereotyped small-town types. 2 p.m., CD. "FRIENDLY PERSUASION," (1975) ""/ 2 . Here's a remake of the fine 1956 film starring Gary Cooper and Dorothy M c G u i r e , which doesn't come up to the original, but has some good points nevertheless. Richard Kiley and Shirley Knight play the sympathetic Quaker couple who aid runaway slaves via the underground railroad. Although Kiley doesn't pretend to match Cooper's charm, he occasionally slips in a wry touch' and Miss Knight is most appealing as his farm wife. Joseph Sargent's direction also adds some solid points, 8 p.m., 09 CD. "THE LIVES OF JENNY DOLAN,".(1975) **/2. ShideyJones is starred in this slick murder mystery drama, playing a retired investigative reporter who comes back to work for a crack at unearthing the sinister plot behind the governor's assassination and three other deaths that occurred in the same night. Her tireless pursuit of the facts leads to threats, the murder of her husband, and a myriad of guest star suspects, including Dana Wynter, Lynn Carlin, George Grizzard, Ian McShane, and James Darren. Film producer Ross Hunter is billed as executive producer on this one and, as always, he makes sure his leading lady is dressed in an array of top fashions--Ms. Jones wears no less than a dozen chic costumes. 9 p.m., O ©fl® ©©. "TO PARIS WITH LOVE," (1955) **%, with Alec Guinness. Sometimes witty comedy about a father's lessons in love to his son. Guinness scores again as the fun- loving father. The scenes shot in Paris itself are appealing. One of Guinness' minor films. 9 p.m., CB. "SON OF DRACULA," (1943) **'/z, with Lon Chaney and Louise Albritton. A strange fellow known as Count Alucard (that's Dracula spelled backwards) comes to stay at an American manse. Unbelievable, horror yarn, but fun anyway. 11:30 p.m., CD. "THE RAZOR'S EDGE," (1946) **'/2, with Tyrone Power and Gene Tierney. Story of a man's search for faith, adapted from Maugham's novel, is a rambling, tedious film that has few high spots and fails to hold up. 11:30 p.m., O. Movies continued on 21 m. . . . ·July -/,. 1976, .Sunday, Gazette-Mail
