Chirks**, .f^ yiiygu* Media Personalities Top List Of Most Influential Women NEW YORK I.-P - Media personalities topped the list compiled by a panel of men and women asked to select the 50 most influential women in America. The 29-member panel, named by Newspaper Enterprise Assn. to determine which women have the most impact on American society, selected 21 journalists, commentators, authors, poets, television and film personalities. Fourteen current or former government officials and the nation's first lady, a former first lady and the mother of a former president were also chosen. The remainder of the selections included sociologists, an educator, a political activist, a sports figure, a feminist leader, an urban specialist, a cultural leader, a civil rights leader and a lawyer. The judges included publishers, editors, educators and consumer activists from a geograhical cross-section of the country. Some of the judges were selected for the list. The women listed as most influential are mostly well-known, highly visible women and do not include representatives of the business or scientific communities, which could reflect a scarcity of women in those fields, the newspaper syndicate said.
