Here's a Western spectacle on the grandest scale Hollywood is able to produce, which, u n f o r t u n a t e l y , may be dwarfed on the small screen For sheer i n c i d e n t , this long f i l m (shown^in two parts, tonight and Thursday night) can't be matched as it covers approximately 50 years in the life of the Prescott family in the 1800's. during which the clan moves westward from New England. The cast reads like a Who's Who of Hollywood -- Gregory- Peck, Henry Fonda, James Stewart. John Wayne. R i c h a r d W i d mark, Robert Preston and Debbie Reynolds, among many others. In addition to the personal and romantic drama of the Prescott family, a d i l u t e d sense of history creeps through such cinematic highlights as a runaway raft riding the rapids, a thunderous buffalo stampede and. perhaps best of all, a breathtaking t r a i n robbery sequence (seen in part I I ) . 11:30p.m.OCD *· "QUILLER: THE PRICE OF V I O L E N C E " ( M a d e f o r TV--19741 **.
