(AP) -- The 16th annual Maurice Stokes Memorial benefit basketball game will be played Tuesday. Aug. 13, at Kutsher's Country Club. Red Auerbach, president and general manager of the Boston Celtics and newly- elected president of the Stokes Foundation, announced the date for the annual game. '· During Stokes' lifetime, more than $100,000 was raised ifor the game to defray medical costs. Since Stokes' death in 1970, income from the game has been used to aid former NBA players who might require financial assistance as the result of illness or disability- A scholarship fund has been, set up at Westinghouse High School in Pittsburgh.- Stokes" alma mater, to annually aid a._ non-athlete and a Maurice Stokes Room has been established at the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield. Mass. The Stokes Foundation also plans grants to the Baker League in Philadelphia and the Harlem Professionals League in New York City. Oak Club at Beckley.
