Players Lament 'Dames' Loss By Martha Smith Most'of the Kaiuwha Players aren't too happy about losing the rights to "Dames at Sea." Reaction has been strongly against removal of the rights to perform the show. Director Bar ry Steinman disclosed earlier this month that On our Productions had cancelled permission for the Players to do the show the season opener. Mountaineer Dinner Theater and Kanawha Players had requested the show in the same day, and since the Winfield organization is semiprofession and the Players are community theater, the dinner theater gbl the nod to do the show. Rules set by the theater owners establish such priority rights. "I personally was very hurt to find out we had lost the show,' Steinman said. "My opinion is ;hat the Players and t h e dinner :heater didn't have the same audience and there wouldn't be a conflict." 35 Custodians Needed For County Schools About 35 custodians are needed n schools throughout Kanawha County. The positions are part time and fuD. time. Custodians may work eithef day or evening schedules. Persons interested should contact the Kanawha County Schools personnel office, 200 Elizabeth St., Charleston. Rhodesia Derailments Blamed on Baboons BULAWAYO, Rhodesia wi Two train derailments have been blamed on baboons who put rocks on the tracks, railroad officials said. IT IS NO SECRET that the Players' financial picture his be«B rather dim the tot few years. Last year's budget ended up in the black chiefly because of the group's 50th anniversary celebration, which brought -'1 considerable revenue. The director is as optimistic as possible about "The Women" a 1930s women's liberation show chosen to replace "Dim* at Sea." "I think we've got an exciting vehicle in 'The Women'," w saht "It has a large cast, lavish costumes, and sets and a good, strong story.".
