12D -- August 3, 1975 Sunday G COMFORT Week's Modest House Offers Two or Four Bedrooms, More By Andy Lang The Auociated Prets Aii aura of comfortable living seems to ·:-:n mate from the exterior of this modest h".'e. which can be a two-bedroom resi- -.irnce for a small family or a iour-bed- !'om dwelling for a large one. Basically a Cape Cod. Design R-127 has iorizontal siding with an accent of board .md batten around the entrance, small- paned windows, window boxes, a cupola on the garage and a covered front portico. The garage wing is placed so that the over-all structure has an L-shaped appearance, thus permitting placement on a smaller lot than would be required if the wing were directly on the side ONE ENTERS through a large covered portico to the main entrance foyer with its high cathedral ceiling. The foyer has two regular closets and one linen closet to the left. Immediately visible is the rear sunken living-dining room where sliding glass doors lead to the rear patio. The large expanse of these two rooms gives spaciousness and glamour to this area. The theme of spaciousness prevalent in architect Samuel Paul's design is carried through to the family room-kitchen, which has windows overlooking the side patio as well as the entrance portico door leading on to it. There is access directly from the patio to the family kitchen as well as the two-car garage and storage. To the left of the central foyer are two bedrooms well separated from the rest of the house by either a bank of closets, a fireplace or a lavatory. A sliding door in the bedroom hall adds further privacy. * * * FOR THOSE who don't find it necessary to utilize the expansion portion of the house, the first floor provides complete and comfortable living in only 1296 square feet. As the family grows, the expansion portion can be finished. The house has many features: the sunken living room and dining room with its window wall toward the rear; the two-story entrance foyer with its gracious and decorative stairway; the merging spaces of kitchen-family room where informal family gatherings and dining are merged into one large space; the patios and portico for outside living and the expansion second-floor with its two bedrooms and bath. All of these attributes contribute toward comfortable and convenient living. NOW OPEN n.
