There is no doubt that the influence of the year-long Bicentennial celebration will be also felt by one great institution--the All-American Wedding. Whether it's a quiet ceremony in a little country chapel or an extravaganza with all the trimmings there's one thing that every bride and groom is destined to share in addition to ultimate nuptial bliss . . . and that's the return of traditional elegance to the wedding scene. The bride-to-be, shopping for her gown will see some models with a hint of a bus- tle dating back to the revolutionary era, the sweeping lines of a romantic cape and ruffles reminiscent of pre-Civil War southern belles or the Victorian ruffled necklines of the 1890's. Wedding gowns for 1975-76 literally trace the history of American fashion. It should come as no surprise that yesteryears' fashions will also be updated for todays dashing groom. Color has added a genuine spark of excitement to spring- summer weddings in recent years. Now for fall-winter '75 the groom no longer need be content only with black or green, navy and brown which debuted last year, but may opt for a new shade of camel, fireworks blue or surprise plum. Executives at After Six, producers of formal wear, state that today's about-to- be marrieds respect the traditions of the wedding scene but want to embellish it with their own imprint and translation of elegance. They suggest that couples on the threshhold of marriage should start shopping for his attire at least two months prior to the wedding date and only after she has selected her gown, colorings for her attendants and the floral scheme. The designer sparks wedding creativity with a new style in a shade of camel with sweeping peak lapels framed in rich, dark brown velvet. The velvet is also used to accent angled pockets and create a distinctive cuff treatment. A matching brown velvet tie and vest in single or double breasted version teams with a lavishly ruffled ecru shirt for a total fashion effect. The romantic Camelot is also available in plum and a new shade of blue that is not as dark as navy nor as bright as royal, called fireworks blue. MOST HAPPY bridegrcom wears the Cametoi by After Six, shou-n here in a striking new shade of vicuna. A debonair note of elegance is added by a trim of deep brown velvet on lapels, collar and angled pockets and cuffs. Lavish ruffles on the formal shirt, a double-breasted velvet vest and matching teardrop tie create a look of total coordination. Among local outlets for After Six are Masters Tuxedo, Frankenberger's and Adams. GOING TO A WEDDING? LET STEVENS BEAUTY SHOP SERVE YOU. FEATURING THE LATEST IN HAIR STYLING.
