Sinbad is captured by a wicked caliph, must perform arduous tasks to win his freedom. Dull fantasy ha'd censor trouble when it was first released, but looks tame today -- and trite. " Y O U N G B L O O D HAWKE," (1964) *%, 11:30 p.m., Q with James Fran- ciscus and Suzanne Pleshette. Inept screen treatment^ of Herman Wouk's best sell-' er about a young author caught in the web of the big city, the publishing world. He's more involved in lovemaking and petty intrigues than in getting his novel finished. The cast is not to blame, but neither can they be totally excused. "THE FLY", (1958).***,.2 p.m., CD with Al Hedison and Vincent Price. During a scientific experiment a miscalculation causes a man to turn into a mutation. Superior science-fiction thriller with a literate script for a change, plus good production effects and capable performances. 4:30 OD Survival © Other People, Other Places @ French Chef © Performance 5:00 O © © Desert Inn Classic IS) 03® Wide World of Sports © I Spy O © Belmont Stakes ®S A Bit With Knit GQ Pacem In Terris 5:30 © Let's Garden Evening 6:OOO©O©Localnews (TB) Porter Wagoner © Look At the Book §3 Yoga You (3D National Spelling Bee 6:30 B © (OS Q5) © Network News 0 Wilburn Brothers 09 Family Classics GD Rock Concert (P Zoom 7:00© Thrillseekers © © 0 © Hee Haw m Wait Till Your Father Gets Home © 09 Lawrence Welk ia Catch 33 ® Book Beat 7:30 03) NFL Highlights O Bobby Goldsboro © Course of Our Times ® Washington Connection 8:00 O ® (S) © © Emergency O © All In the Family 09® Partridge Family (9 Book Beat ® Nova 8:30 O © MASH 09® "Can Ellen Be Saved" © Nova 9:00 O © Mary Tyler Moore ©(BODS)© "Play Dirty" CB David Susskind 9:30 Q © Bob Newhart (9 Silent Years 10:00 Q © Carol Burnett 09 ® Owen Marshall 11:00 O © Local news weather, sports 09 Network News ® Wrestling 11:15 09 Local news, weather, sports 11:30 O ® © © © Local news, weather sports © Midnight Special O "Youngblood Hawk" © "Companions In Nightmare" 09 "Murder In the Blue Room "Mummy's Tomb" 11:45© "Son of Sinbad" 12:00 O "Istanbul Express" © Midnight Special O) "Berlin Affair" 12:15® "Kill or Be Killed" Haley hit all-time favorite By J. P. Rool Some time ago, this column looked at a survey of the top 1,000 rock hits prepared by Guy Zapoleon in Los Angeles. Well, it appears there's a young man right in our midst who has spent about five years working on a similar project of his own. His name is Joseph F. Amburgey, and his listing is entitled "The First Twenty Years, Rock'n'Roll's 100 Greatest Recordings." Amburgey's gone to a lot of trouble to research his project, including contacting several magazine and record company officials and a former executive editor of Billboard. He has submitted the listing to local radio stations for comment, as well. The research demanded for Amburgey's listening of his personal top 100 rock records was enormous, and his report of it contains very few mistakes. His number 42 selection, "I Want to Hold Your Hand," for instance, is listed as: The Beatles, Apple. The record was released on Capitol. And while he claims to list only the original recordings and artists, he lists at 86: "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" -Gladys Knight/Pips -- Soul. The original "Grapevine" was Marvin Gaye's. You may contact him at: 1305 Roseberry Circle, Charleston.
