Tuesday.Jum4on \BC-TV. Television Movies . Tuesdav "PEYTON PLACE," (Pt. I), (1957)***,9a.m.,©with Lana Turner and Hope Lange. Here's the original film which served as the basis for the popular TV soap opera. .It's actually much better than you may expect. Lana Turner and a fine supporting cast bring to life all the shady secrets of the New England town which made Grace Metalious' book a best seller. Granted, this is soap opera, but it's well played and the production is first rate, with excellent photography of a New England autumn adding greatly to the atmosphere. Diane Varsi as Allison and Hope Lange as Selena are the standouts among the young actors in the film. »· "AARON SLICK FROM PUMPKIN CRICK," (1952) **, 11:30 p.m., B with Alan Young and Robert Merrill. Stylized-satirization of the old tent show plot about the city slicker who tries to fleece the poor widow out West. Attempt at novelty doesn't come off and becomes just a rather tedious musical comedy. **, 11:30 p . m . , CD with James Caan and Laura Devon. Fast paced but simple plotted drama about the racing car set in the United States. There are more sub plots than you can keep up with, all involving the romances of the racers. The best thing about the film is the footage of the races. rnrr CASMOOZ. rKtt RCCOIA with Summer Spea'al mm Phone 344-3668 SIZE22"xl3"»13" Portable THE BEST PORTABLE KENNEL AVAILABLE Protects Controls Your Pet or Hunting Dogs!
