Assayer trying to escape his past arrives in Silver City to help a girl and her father mine a rich vein, opposed by the owner of the land. Actionful western with plenty of movement for the fans. * * · "THE SWINGER," (1966) * 2:30 p.m. 0 Ann Margaret, Tony Franciosa. Authoress writes a steaming sex novel and proceeds to live out her heroine's adventures. Leering farce, pretending to be a morality fable for addle-brained teenagers, with Ann Margaret looking and acting incapable of reading, much less writing a book. It's films like this that give orgies a bad name! - « » * ._"NEVADA SMITH," (1975) ** 8 p.m. O Lome Greene, Cliff Potts. Lome Greene seeks another "Bonanza" in this remake of a Steve McQueen movie, and misses' the cut. Working in Durango, Mexico, Greene becomes a crusty old firearms hustler caught in a father- son love-hate relationship with the half-Indian youth, Nevada Smith, played by Cliff Potts. Durango locations give the show a life, but the old-hat story tends to bore. sumption that anyone would desert the lovely Lollobrigida for any length of time. Some cute scenes. * * * . "FIVE PENNIES," (1959) ** 11:30 p.m. O Danny Kaye, Barbara Bel Geddes, Tuesday Weld. The music's the thing here -- pleasant biography of jazzman Red Nichols, a good change of pace for Kaye. But the sound track glistens with solos by Nichols himself, Bob Crosby, and notably Louis Armstrong. A treat for the jazz buffs, entertaining for others. * * * "PORK CHOP HILL," (1959) *** 11:30 p.m. CD Gregory Peck, Harry Guardino. Stark war drama about the last hours of the Korean War. It's hard-hitting and; tough with an excellent supporting cast. Superior war film directed by veteran Lewis Milestone. * * * "THEY ONLY CAME OUT AT NIGHT," (1975)** 9:30 p.m. O Jack Warden, Madeline Sherwood. Jack Warden is better than his material in this routine police drama. He plays John St. John, an old member of the Los Angeles Police Dept., detective division, who is working on clues that lead him to solving a group of robbery-murders of old women. The good supporting cast includes Tim O'Connor and Joe Mantell. * + * "STRANGE BEDFELLOWS," (1964).-*.*% 11:30 p.m. O Rock Hudson, Gina Lollobrigida. Wandering business executive tries to reconcile his wife to improve his corporate image. Fairly entertaining comedy based on the unlikely as- ALL IN THE FAMILY.
