^GAZETTE-MAIL Charleston, W. Va. June 2,1974 The exploding trend toward outdoor vacations has made the Mountain State one of the nation's top playgrounds. The U. S. Interior Dept. lists touring, hiking, bicycling, sight-seeing, picnicking, fishing, hunting, boating, nature walks, camping, water skiing, horseback riding and bird watching as national favorite pastimes. All are available throughout West Virginia, and as the Frank Wilkin photos on this page indicate--here the playground is cool and green.
