There were suspicions that Mscher's latest outburst might urther unnerve the trailing r orld champion, Boris Spassky, 'honi the Russians say is a langed man after a month of ischer histrionics. As the 28-year-old American challenger, leading 5-3 in the 24-game title fight, observed his Saturday Sabbath in isolation, chess officials tried to unravel the legal tangles over filming. Cameras, barred from the playing hall after Fischer said they disturbed him in the first game July 11, were back for Thursday's eighth game under an fagreement signed that day by lawyers for Fischer and Chester Fox, holder of exclusive movie rights. Paul Marshall, -representing Fischer, said he had receivec the go-ahead from Fischer. Fischer said Friday he had given no authorization whatsoever. A protest delivered to President Gudmundur Thorarinsson of the Iceland Chess Federation said , the challenger would nol finish the match unless the cameras went. Thorarinsson said the ICF might find itself in the red if Dhere is no more filming. Spassky was reported fishing. 3e has won only one game and .ost four of the last six. Before ihis championship he had never been beaten by Fischer. AS away THE from RUSSIAN Thursday's drove match looking utterly worn out and dejected, William Lombardy, Fischer's second, said he would not be surprised if Spassky that contract, which calls for group of physicians to construct a fully equipped clinic In th stadium, is only a drop in th bucket compared to the $10 mi lion annual ^mortgage payment. A dozen major convention already have reserved dates the stadium for the first two o three years of its operation. The decision to keep footbal weekends open, at least unti future schedules are firmed up emphasizes the fact that the stadium-- even with all its othe facilities-- remains first and foremost a stadium. Stadium officials say they believe that conventions and other events might be more profit able for the stadium than some sporting events. But they ad that the project was sold to th public as a sports palace anc sports will take precedence in scheduling. No contracts have been signed, but here is a summary of the status of sports in the superdome based on private conversations with both stadium officials and various sports officials: The Football New Orleans Saints the National Football League will play their home exhibition and regular season games in the stadium and very likely will lease 7,000-10,000 feet for office space. Tulane will play its home games in the dome, although not necessarily the first year because the new stadium might not be ready for the entire season. The Sugar Bowl will be asked for an adjournment oi Sunday's game on medical grounds. "I don't know what he will do, ut I knnrr W hat he should do, 1 jombardy said. Basketball Louisiana State University at New Orleans (LSUNO) has informed the National Collegiate Athletic Association it will play half its home games in the dome. The stadium is seeking the NCAA regional playoffs for 1975 and 1976 and the national finals for 1977. The Sugar Bowl will play its basketball tournament in the dome, possibly increasing from four-team to an eight-team tournament. Baseball Most uncertain of the three major sports for the dome is baseball. Officials are trying to work out an agreement where- jy each major league team would play a two or three-game series in the dome each season. Also there is the possibility of expansion or a transferred franchise, although stadium of- 'icials hint they really would just as soon not tie up the stadium for a full 81-game schedule, plus exhibitions. Franchise- sharing plan with Cleveland Indians fell through when ownership of the Indians changed hands. Despite the uncertainty, several ranking pro baseball officials have said baseball will be n the dome one way or anoth- KRAFTREADS and G78xl4 TIRE WIDE TREAD 7*0 FULL CAPS YOUR CHOICE FOR ' THIS WEEK ONLY!
