Shaver Trinidad Sprint Star Sparks Penn State Win P I T T S B U R G H ( A P ) Penn State's depth gave the Nittany Lions their first team title since 1959 while Seton Hall's Charles Joseph, a native of Trinidad, won a pair of sprint titles Saturday at the IC4A track and field championships. Penn State, runner-up a year ago, finished with 50 points followed by defending champion Navy with 30 and Manhattan and Seton Hall with 27 each. Joseph earned 12 of Seton H a l l ' s points, t a k i n g t h e 100-and 220-yard dash titles from Bahamian-born Mike Sands of Penn State. Penn State's only first-place finishers in 21 events were the 440-yard relay team anchored by Sands and Charlie Maguire, winner of the six-mile Friday. However, the Nittany Lions piled up six second-place finishes, f o u r t h i r d s , three fourths and a fifth. Joseph's 20.5-second clocking in the 220 shaved a tenth of a second off the old IC4A record set by Andy Stanfield of Seton Hall in 1951.
