In the conclusion of this two-part series on the prolific producer-director of B movies, Roger Corman, a man who gave many a-novice a chance to perform, interviews with actor Bruce Deril (The Great Cattby, Family Plot), and film editors Joe Dante and Allan Arkush, take over the show. 11 a.m. © MEET THE PRESS. It's men's singles with Bjorn Borg playing Hie Nastase, taped at Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. 4:30 p.m. ABC. IB WONDERFUL WORLD OF DISNEY. "Little Dog Lost." (Repeat). The 1963 outing is a perfect example of the late Disney's extraordinary way with animals, real or animated. "The story deals with a Welsh Corgi puppy, owned by, youthful masters, who gets lost and has to make its way alone in the world. Though the sound was obviously dubbed in and often gives the effect of a foreign film, and the idea of the dog's fear of brooms is overdone, the photography, continuity and the dog itself are all simply wonderful. 7p.m. NBC. OS)© this chapter a must for all water lovers. 7 p.m. ABC. ® to- MASTERPIECE THEATER. "Notorious Woman." (Repeat). Be sure to tune in if you missed Rosemary Harris' magnificent portrait of George Sand, the 19th century writer who scandalized society by her unconventional ideas and life style, in this brilliant seven-part BBC series. In part one tonight, she appears as a 16-year-old girl, fresh out of convent school, named Amandine Aurore Lucile Dupin, home to stay with her grandmother, who is absolutely, bent on making this impetuous, emotional youngster a great lady of society. Before the hour is over, we will have met Aurore trying to live up to her grandmother's hopes; seen her married to a man her intellectual inferior, bored to distraction; and finally determined to leave him and find a more suitable life in Paris. Cathleen Nesbitt is absolutely magnificent as Aurore's grandmother, so don't miss her either! 9 p.m. PBS. © (D see. THE UNDERSEA WORLD OF J A C Q U E S C O U S T E A U . "The Sleeping Sharks of Yucatan." (Repeat). One of the series' best underwater films, as Cousteau leads his divers in the blue Caribbean waters off Mexico to inspect sleeping sharks. Close-range footage of the somnolent sharks, giant manta rays (underwater airships) sucking up plankton, colorful tropical fish, and a huge mass of grunts, become a visual treat.- Early portions of the show featuring the ocean's animal plankton projected upon microscopic screens, make "X Y Z." (1972) *V 2 . 9_p.m., (B ©. For the first ten minutes of this movie, your jaw will drop in amazement that any film could be this bad. But once you get over the initial shock, you'll laugh along with the excellent cast at the trashiness of it all. It's a jet-set mel- ' odrama with Elizabeth Taylor and Michael Caine as man and wife. He's bored and dissatisfied, so he enlists Susannah York as his mistress. Taylor is particularly good as the boozing, vengeful shrew out to keep her husband, but don't expect anything but a good laugh from the ludicrous script. "ROSE OF WASHINGTON SQUARE," (1939) ***, 11:30 p.m.. O with Al Jolson and Alice Faye. Alice and Al sing some of the most memorable songs of the twenties and it is, of course, the highlight of an otherwise ordinary film. Great Paint! Only s 5*/gal.
