1972 Sunday GaxetteJlail Wist Virgin:* Use Mirror Trick to Enlarge Area WROUGHT IRON SPANISH GATE STYLING Mirrors Add Delightful Flavor to Home Use Proper Form When Displaying JL J O Your Wedding Gifts It's an altogether exciting w o r l d w h e n those white-tissued beribboned packages start coming in for the bride-to-be and her future husband. And the couple may want to share their treasures with friends and family by setting up a display. Fir it of all, remove all the large pieces of furniture from the room which you have chosen for the display of your gifts. If card tables aren't adequate, why not try trestle tables? They can be rented, or possibly borrowed from the church, and arranged like counters around the side of the room and down the center. * * + MOST ETIQUETTE books call for plain white damask cloths to cover the table, but with all the exciting materials on the market today, it seems a little drab to use white linen. Several yards of inexpensive material in soft shades to blend with the color scheme of the room would be much more artistic. And you can use the material later for curtains in your new home or apartment. Instead of massing all your silver on one table and your china on another, play designer and use some skill in the display. Save some of your larger gift boxes to use as steps for gifts on your table tops to show some of your loveliest things to best advantage. Your shower gifts may be arranged all together on one table or mixed in with other gifts, just as you wish. · * * * MOST PEOPLE agree that donors' cards should be removed from the gifts when they are displayed. It is actually a matter which you and your family may -decide, however, for there is no reason as far as propriety goes why cards shouldn't be left with the gifts. Don't display checks, but you may mention them and their donors. "Uncle Albert sent us a check for our dining room furniture," or whatever. During the wedding and reception, you may want to engage someone to guard the gifts if there are many costly ones. Bride's first home may be smaller than the one she and her husband later have as they begin their family. But even in the smallest apartment, there's a way to make it seem larger and more attractive. The trick is mirrors. And mirrors are an accessory that are not necessarily expensive and one in which many styles a n d f a s h i o n s a r e n o w available to make them a .perfect gift or first purchase by the n e w l y w e d s who probably will be on a budget. According to Thomas Industries, there is a si2e and shape of mirror now available to suit any size room or decor. From gay Mexican fiesta displays of wrought iron to ornate French, Italian motifs in gold and bronze finishes. Subtle contemporary mirrors in bright tones may be interchanged with niore elaborate trims for smart decorating effects. In an entry hall, try a f r a m e d mirror above a narrow decorative shelf that fastens to the wall. You will have made the hall seem larger, provided a last-minute c h e c k p o i n t f o r y o u r appearance as you go out, and dressed up the wall with an attractive wall arrangement. . IN THE dining room, use a large mirror at one end. It will reflect your table, chairs, and breakfront or whatever you have against the opposite wall. The room will seem Hue Bride's Due +· The b r i d e u s u a l l y discusses the general theme and color scheme of her wedding with her parents and friends, but the final decision about the attendants' dresses is hers alone. almost twice as large. If you can arrange the mirror to reflect windows, your room will seem airy and lighter still. A bathroom can always use another mirror and if it is a small room, a framed mirror is * smart decorator accent as well as a clever room enlarger. If the framed mirror can be positioned just right, it will allow a clear view of the back of the head--a real boon for hail setting ar.rt combing. V Don't neglect the kitchen now that you are thinking mirrors. For instance, if your only kitchen window is across the room from your eating area, handsome decorator mirrors can brighten that dark corner. We offer all or any part of our special to you . . .
