It weighs 60 tons, and yet thanks to space age technology, it turns on a cushion of air with such dreamlike quiet that a person riding the whale may hear the gurgling of its immense insides. Lidsville is a village of gigantic hats where visitors find the 1,000 seat Lidsville Theater presenting "Celebration," a lavish Bicentennial show featuring dancing waters, ice skaters, "super inflatables," fireworks and magic effects made possible by a combination of the Kroffts' creativity and the engineering that lifted the Apollo moon- shots off the planet. The World of Sid Marty Krofft concludes with -"Living Island Adventure.'" Visitors descend a mine shaft to the land of Witchiepoo, the TV witch; : who even the smallest kids find more funny than threatening. Witchiepoo and her incompetent crew have toiled and schemed to trap the visitor, but Mayor H.R. Pufnstuf and other Krofft TV characters come to his aid. In a mad broomstick pursuit of the fleeing visitors, Witchiepoo drops pepper mills on a house ahead. The house sneezes with an enormous kerchbo that threatens · the boat. Pufnstuf, as any TV viewer knows, wins, and the ride concludes to safety. It's all sophisticated entertainment, designed to be just good fun. The World of Sid £ Marty Krofft provides three to five hours of fun, after which visitors can go on to the _;Shops and fine restaurants of Omni International or a sports or entertainment event. Unlike some theme park attractions, it will not take up "a day or two of time, and it is situated in the heart of Atlanta so that it is handily available both to Atlantans and to visitors in the city. . . Tickets cost $5.75 for adults, and $4.25 for j u n i o r s , aged three through nine. Under three, a child is admitted free. Groups of 20 or more may arrange in advance for a discount of 10 per cent. Though tickets will be available at the gate, it is anticipated that the majority of visitors to The World of Sid Marty Krofft will purchase advance, or reserve, tickets. Advance tickets are available at all nine Rich's department stores in the Atlanta metropolitan area, or by direct order with The World of Sid Marty Krofft. .'. The advantage of advance tickets is much like the advantage of advance tickets to a Broadway play; . t h e ticket'hblder knows that when ; he : getsio'Fantasy Fair or other levels .he will not find the place over-crowded and have to wait in long lines: for the shows and rides. He must'enter before the time shown on his ticket, but he may stay as long as he likes. At the'international Food Fair located in "Uptown," close to the Giant Pinball Machine, visitors can also sample favorite finger foods such as hog dogs, hamburgers, tacos. pizza, and crepes. Even as a visitor snacks, he is entertained by Pufnstuff and his friends.'Inside, each figure is a real person, but Pufnstuff and the rest answer ques- lions with their recorded TV voices. They are programmed to answer 24 questions that research indicates are most likely to be asked. If a visitor stumps a character with an unexpected question, he looks at his wristwalch and excuses himself with an apologetic, "It's time for the next show." . - ' Statc.MasazirLe. May.'?{),. Va. - Twentieth-century electronics are being used to animate George Washington's 18th-century home at Mount Vernon, beginning last Friday, May 28 according to Charles C. Wall, resident director of the estate. "The Father of Liberty", a 47 minute sound and light program, which is the Bicentennial gift of the French Nation to the American people, was presented to President Ford by French President.Giscard d'Estaing on May 19. The audio-visual presentation will take place nightly at Mount -Vernon through the Labor Day weekend.
