'Apple's Way' for young set APPLE'S WAY. "The Lamb." A tale for the younger set in which Steve Apple learns a b o u t l i f e on the farm. In a story by Kathleen Kite, a writer for "Guns- moke" at its peak, young Steve becomes attached to the sheep while working for neighbors, and must cope with a newborn larnb after its mother dies. Written simply for the little ones. 7:30 p.m. CBS. O CD +· W O R L D OF D I S N E Y . "The Whiz Kid and the Mystery at Riverton." Part I. (Repeat). Despite a credibility problem, this two-part tale will hold your interest. It deals with a six-grader (Eric Shea) who visits the mayor's office for an essay contest on city government and overhears land swindle plans. The youngster and his pals play detective, snooping about local crooks, planning to clean out corruption upon winning the essay contest and becoming Mayor for a day. 7:30 p.m. NBC. O © © M C M I L L A N W I F E . "Man Without a Face." (Repeat). Good two-hour entry digs into McMillan's ex- Watch for These Sundav perience as an intelligence agent, when a former partner of his is found murdered. The action that follows, in which confusing clues and messages are investigated and tracked down, is full of suspense and tension, aided by a skillful guest cast including Dana Wynter, Nehemiah Persoff. Steve Forrest and Stephen McNally. 8:30 p.m. NBC. O © © © JOAN SUTHERLAND: Who's Afraid of Opera? "La P e r i c h o l e . " ( R e p e a t ) . Here's a marvelous romp, set to Jacques Offenbach's lilting score, full of familiar arias, sung to merry perfection by soprano Joan Sutherland and her mini-opera cast of players. Never mind the details of the plot about the Viceroy and the peasant girl he entices to his lair. What counts is the fun and the frolic and enchantment of it all 8:30 p.m. ETV. @3) ® »· MASTERPIECE THEATER. "Upstairs, Down- stairs." (Repeat). A least for gourmets! Most of this episode is engaged in preparing the dinner the Bella- mys are arranging for King Edward VII, who has subtly i n v i t e d h i m s e l f to their home for an informal evening. The whole household is in a tizzy, of course, and the table setting is something to behold, to say nothing of the menu. There's a bit of melodrama toward the end when pregnant Sarah, practically in labor, appears out of the blue; so fans of the series stay tuned. 9 p.m. ETV. © FIRING LINE. "Where Do We Go From Here in the Middle East?" The title subject is discussed by program host William F. Buckley Jr. and his guest, Dr. Fayes A.
