Alps Festival Authenticity, from entertainment to the wursts and sauerbraten, is the keynote of the third annual Oktpberfest-styled ; German Alps Festival in the Catskills, August 1 through 10, which this year is being held at Hunter Mountain, Hunter, N.Y. The festival was held the first two years at Purling. The Auer brothers--Anton, 19, and twins Peter and Joseph, 23, are coming from Germany's Sillersdorf, nearVBerchtesgaden; to play their13-fbot'l6rig Alpine horns. They were the featured Alpine horn players at the 1972 Munich Olympics. "V , Conductor Gunter Kuebler, who made a big hit at last year's festival with the Altburg band, returns from Germany with the colorful 34-piece Black Forest Brass Band Althengstett/Calw. Also returning from Germany is woodcarver Gustl Eich of Oberammergau, to head an expanded list of working craftsmen. Besides the Black Forest band seven other German-American oompah bands including two stroll- ing bands are scheduled. The music menu also includes zither playing by Toni Noichl and yodeling by Dotty Masel, . · : The Germania Alm.rau.sch Schuhplattlers (folk dancers) of Poughkeepsie, will perform daily as will the Schaefer family -- Erwin, Bobbi, and the four kids. Other daily features include .the German puppet show Kasperle, hot-air balloon ascension, amusement rides, the new Alpenhaus Pavilion that will feature a huge Hummel figurine display and a Konditorei (German coffee shop). The Hunter Mountain sky ride will also be operating. The festival setting will liave over 200 gaily colored tents, including the main tent that will seat 3,000 persons and another that will seat 800.
