17 A--July 16, 1972 Sunday Ca^n^Mail Ch«fh«««n. v/Mt Wrtlnl, JOHN F. KENNEDY JR. Kidnap Plot Object 8 Arrested In Kennedy Kidnap Plot A T H E N S , Greece-w-The government announced on Saturday the arrest of eight Greek, who it claimed planned to kidnap John F. Kennedy Jr., son of Jacqueline Onassis who lives part of the time on a Greek island. The government also announced that security police had arrested four West Germans, including a young woman, on charges of planning bombings, kidnapings and assassinations in Greece. The government announcement said that the eight Greeks had patterned themselves after the Tupamaro urban guerrilla organization in Uruguay and that they sought to overthrow Greece's military-backed re- · gime'. The announcement described the eight as being members of an organization called "New Left." They range in age from 23 to. 45. They had planned to kidnap ambassadors, bankers, and such people as noted Greek-American businessman Tom Pappas and young Kennedy, "the government said. The announcement said this information was divulged by the group ringleader, Christos Ra madanis, 31, during interrogation by military police. The announcement said security police arrested the Germans a week ago. It added that Ernst Zorer, 32, Werner Robbers, 26, Jurgen Obermayer, 27 and Susanne Bausinger, 19, allegedly planned the escape of a fugitive Greek opposition figure. . All were described as students, and Zorer as the leader of the group. The announcement .-said the four arrived here under orders from the outlawed 20th October Resistance M o v e m e n t with headquarters in Stuttgart just a day before their arrest. The Stuttgart organization gave orders to the four to aid in the escape of an Edith Economou, wanted by the authorities for anarchist acts, the announcement said. Interrogation of the four disclosed that both Zorer and Robbers were Communists, while Obermayer denied any complicity, the announcement said. Convention Survey Lists */ * CBS at Top NEW YORK-W) -- A national Arbitron survey showed 36 per cent of the persons watching the Democratic National Convention viewed the proceedings on CBS, 33 per cent on NBC and 31 per cent on ABC, the Columbia Broadcasting System reported Saturday. The Arbitron figures also showed that most viewers were watching local stations rather than the network convention fare. The survey covered the time period from 7 to 11 p.m. EDT. The average audience during that time period was 11.9 watching CBS, 11.0 and 10.4 watching the mix of entertainment and convention programming on ABC. During the 9:30-to-ll p.m. period when all three networks were covering the convention exclusively, the figures were CBS 13.8 NBC 12.6 and ABC 8.5. CBS said it had joined with NBC to commission the survey of Arbifron--the American Research Bureau. The sampling was taken by telephone 1,500 homes every half hour, or a total of almost 50.000 homes over the four evening. The total audience in the nation that watched all or part of the convention on all three networks was estimated by CBS at 125 million.
