Washington, 30. In the Supreme Court to-day Attorney Aikerman anuounced the- death of Thos. Ewicg, and presented a feeling' speech. Resolutions in memory ol tin deceased were passed by the members of tho bar. 'I he Chief made the following reply The Court shares with the bar in the sentiment expressed by their resolution, which will be entered upon the records in accordance with request.

M. Iiuth was arrested at her house yesterday, as accomplice in the murder of her husband, us "accessory before the fact." The arrest was made about 4 o'clock, by Capt. Games and three policemen. A thorough search was made thro' the house, and a large number of papers, letters, memoranda, etc, taken away. One thing taken was a diary, in which there were a few interesting notes, and from which parts of pages had been torn iu different places.

Mrs. 1'uih did not appear to be greatly affected by the proceedings, and with the exception of a lew sarcastic remarks and a little hysterical laughter, no feeling was displayed. She was taken iu a hack to the jail, and will there remain, unless released on bail, nntil a preliminary tril is had, which will probably be held iu two weeks. STATE NEWS. Butler county claims a pumpkin vine 3,513 teet iu length.

This growth is not all vine either, as lifty-six pumpkins have been gathered from it. A couple of attempted to steal a pair of hordes belonging to G. Chutes, iu La Cygne. A noise in the barn attracted his attention, and on discovering the thieves he gave them contents of two gun barrels. They decamped quite suddenly.

A Robber Killed. Cincinnati, Oct. 30. Andre M. Shever, farmer, six miles east of Delphos, was confronted in his own house, about 8 o'clock Saturday evening, by a robber, who, after asking for matches, presented a revolver.

Shever knocked the revo ver from bis hand and stabbed the unknown man to death with a pock et, knife. Shever was exonerated by the coroner's jury. Boiler Explosion. St. Louie, Oct.

Louis li. and lefi. Chicago at 9:30 in the evening, on a special train of Pullman palace sleeping cars, in company with tho President and other officers ot the road. Resolutions were adopted on the train thanking the the company for special couriesies, and congratulating the people of Kansas upon the opening of another iron way from Kansas to the lakes. The road passes through Jacksonville, Mexico, Louisiana and Brunswick, to Kansas City, and through trains commence running today without change of cars.

Murder. Memphis, Oct. 30. Chas. Dean, a prominent citizen of Greenwood, Mississippi, whila returning home from the Masonic Lodge last week, was shot and killed by an unknown assassin, who fired on Harry Mullin who was accompanying him, but missed him.
