MONTH FOR GOOD MOVIES on "Pisfofs 'n' Petficoerfs." October Is Rating Time, Folks By Jay Fredericks You may be interested to know that October is television rating month in Charleston. In case you've been wondering what WCHS-TV has done with all the GOOD movies they've been bragging about, this is the month they'll show them in an effort to get the rating nod in the time periods. But, while the survey will be made in October, the results won't be announced until December. So itTl be after that that any program changes will be made if the stations feel any are necessary.

From toe calls and' letters I've received, I think the par- tisane of Captain Kangaroo SUNDAY SOLO and Walter Cronkite have been lying in wait for this month to vent their ire and are ready to strike if they're called about what station they're looking at. Speaking of the good Captain and Walter, I read with some amazement a story in Variety in which the general manager at WCHS was quoted as saying that "no deluge" of complainte reouked from the cancellations of Kangaroo and Cronkite. There was, Variety quotes him as saying, only a "rumbling." His definition of deluge is obvious- AT SUNRISE OiarleMon Center of Arts and Education open to the pdMfc with out charge Tuesday through Saturday 10 a. to 5 Sunda 2 to 5 p. m.

Variety also quoted Charles Mover, the WCHS-TV operations manager: "As for Uw Crookite exit, Moyer asserts that local newsmen can do the job as well as network notables. He noted that network news a a devote on fee average of five minute to national and international liard with the remainder features and general Moyer forsees his operation as number one in the tri- state area and 9tanfe pat on his belief that news can be comprehensively within a 20-minute Well, that's what Variety said, has been reported that the West German governmeot has filed a complaint with American television networiu about the proliferation of World War based shows in which the Germans are as the bad guys. Mist Murphy Tbe German governmeot particularly resents reference to Germans on such shows as and "Ibe Rat Pa- troT "krauts" or "potato heads' or other such uncomplimentary terms.

I Am't think the German complaints are going to do much good. World War at the moment is good box office and no matter how you slice it, the Germans WERE the bad guys. Tbat's the way the sauerbraten crumbles. TV Movies Saturday Ttoe Joker Is Wild," 9 p. IO4B with Frank Eddie Albert.
