Age seventy-four, Conquerall Bank, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia, died April 2, 1997 in Bridgewater, N.S.

Born in Lachine, Quebec, he was a son of the late Dr. James D. Dixon and Dorothy S.B. (Goldsworth) Dixon. He graduated from McGill University, Montreal with a BSc in 1943 and MDCM (Master of Surgery) in 1945.

His post-graduate training included internships at the Montreal General, Reddy Memorial and Royal Victoria Hospitals in Montreal, following which he enjoyed a long and successful practice in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Lachine General Hospital. in 1971 he moved to Nova Scotia and continued his medical practice in Bridgewater until his retirement in 1989. An avid sailor, he was a former member of the Royal St. Lawrence Yacht Club, Dorval, Quebec, and a former member and commodore of the LaHave River Yacht Club, West LaHave, N.S. Surviving are sons, Liam and wife Lina, Beaconsfield, Quebec; Michael, Ottawa; Patrick, Dorval, Quebec; Paul and wife Bonita, Halifax; daughter Mary and common law husband Eric Hayes, Bridgewater; grandchildren, Jennifer, Jillian, Halifax; Bradley, Ottawa; sister Shirley (Mrs.

R.J. Dunlop), Port Appin, Scotland; brother Hugh, Picton, Ontario. He was predeceased in 1995 by his wife, the former Rita Newman; half-sister Margaret (Mrs. Emerson Brooks), half-brothers James and John. Cremation has taken place.

Vassilios Fragatos was born in Monopolata, in Cephalonia, Greece, in 1906. He immigrated to Canada in 1928 to avoid the political turmoil and social unrest in Greece.

After a remarkably successful restaurant business he extended to real estate and equity investments. He married Anna Halikias in 1937 and they had three children. A deeply religious man, with a pronounced interest in education, he supported The Greek Community and church, establishing as well a scholarship fund in his native Greece. He leaves to mourn his wife of fifty-nine years, Anna Halikias, children, Katherine Dallas (Dr. Bill), Dr.

Peter Fragatos (Karen), Alexandra Fragatos, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His brother Dr. Gerassimos Fragatos, with his wife Irene, is the only surviving sibling. John was an employee of the Canada Cement Company in Montreal East from 1938 until he retired in 1977. A man of many talents and interests, he raised prize winning budgerigars and pedigree cocker spaniels. For more than forty-five years, his annual Christmas outdoor creche display was admired by countless Montrealers. His family also has many mementos of his fine wood craftsmanship.

He was one of the founding members of the Almage Senior Community Center in Montreal East and he was a long-time member of St. Aloysius RC Church. The family will receive friends at the Giguere and Tomasso Funeral Home, 8989 Hochelaga Street East on April 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. Aloysius Church, 8402 deMarseille Street on Monday, April 14 at 2 p.m.
