He is indeed a star, and should be treated as such. While more maturity is to be expected from the franchise, respect is a two-way street. Yashin needs to stop badmoutliing management, coaches and teammates if he does indeed return. Many of those he must play with aren't nearly so bad as he thinks -and can only get better witlvjiis help. Maturity: When the SenaWse-lected Yashin, they stressed his strong family values.

Teammates: Much has Wen made of the thought that Yashin could return to a dressing room that would openly despise him lor turning his back on them and for what he has said about their abilities. This is the least of the concerns. A happy Yashin is an mi-menselv likable young man. IN MEMORIAM HAROLD STEWART October 24, 1975 In loving memory of a cherished husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather who passed away twenty years ago today. Yesterday and You How can we get to yesterday When you were here And life and love promised forever The sun seemed brighter The winds blew warmer And flowers bloomed in perfumed rainbow abundance The night skies lit up with a more luminous moon and dancing, dazzling stars And you made us feel so safe and protected, by your love and faith in God And then you were gone And life and loves sweet precious song followed you Leaving empty aching spaces, in our hearts That never can be filled How can we get to yesterday and you Loving and missing you always Mona, Heather and Ray, Gigi and Merrily. OTTAWA At least they're talking. That alone is good news both for those who wish for a resolution to the Alexei Yashin Affair and those who just wish it would go away. The fact that the two sides are once again on speaking terms means that hockey's version of the Di-and-Charles story has a potential ending, happy or not.

The Ottawa Senators have been saying privately that they expect Yashin back in a Senators uniform "sooner rather than later." The reasons involve increasing headaches for Yashin in Moscow, an improved team in Ottawa and a growing awareness that no trade and no alternative leaves him little choice if he wishes to earn more good money. It may be. however, that the two parties most venomous to each other Senators management and Yashin's agent. Mark Gaudier -are now more open to compromise than the player himself. Their businesses, after all.

have vested interests in his return. The swallowing of pride may come rather more easily to them than to this determined young man. The Senators also say. privately as well as publicly, that they ill not renegotiate. He has a contract.

End of discussion. And as for his second bone of contention that the Senators haven't a clue how to put together a hockey they feel this was answered Sunday night in New York City.
