Canyon Is A Good Place In Which To Live The Canyon News, Canyon, Texas Cheri Ki Ichriste Becomes Bride of M. Wayne Slagle Nuptial vows were solemnized for Miss Cheri Kilchriste. daughter of Mrs A. Harding and M. Wayne Single, son of the Rev.

and Mrs. Slagle, 2340 Knight Dallas, on Saturday. May 10. at 7 p. in the Methodist parsonage.

Rev. Hubert Thomson, pastor, read the double ring service. Mr. and Mrs G. E.

Gibson were the only attendants. The bride chose for her wedding, a two-piece suit with white accessories. Her corsage was of pink and white carnations She was graduated from Canyon High School and at the time of her marriage was employed at J. J. Walker's Drug Store.

The bridegroom completed his education at Nocona, and later served in the glider corps with the armed forces. Mr. and Mrs. Slagle will be at home in Wichita Palls where he is employed with the Southwestern Beil Telephone Company. Shower A tea-shower, honoring the bride- elect was given in the home of Mrs.

J. J. Walker Friday afternoon at 4:30, with Mrs. Walker, Mrs. Joe Cox, and Mrs.

El P. Harding acting as co-hostesses. Guests were greeted as they arrived by Mrs. Cox, the honoree. Miss Kilchriste, and her mother, Mrs.

Harding. Miss Edna Earl Hender- I son presided at the book and I secured the names of the guests. Purple iris and yellow tulips decorated the room where the gifts were displayed. At a table covered with lace and set with crystal, Mrs. Malcolm Cashwell served punch, nuts, mints and white cakes, enscribed in blue with Cheri and Bluebonnets and white lilacs carried out the chosen colors of blue and white in the centerpiece and mantel decorations in the entertaining room.

E. W. Schaeffer of the Fairview community. near Happy, became the bride of Rayford Shipman, son of Mr. and Mrs.

Ross Shipman of Seymour. Sunday. May 4 Vows were exchanged at 2 in the home of the parents, with the Rev. Gerald Johnson, pastor of the Fairview Baptist church, officiating. Miss Annabel Schaeffer, sister of the bride, played a medley of piano selections which included, Love You "Till the End of Time," and accompanied Misses Mary Wise and La Vinia Amerson.

Bride's maid was Miss Fayrene Schaeffer, also a sister of the bride, who wore a street length dress of pale blue, and a corsage of pink carnations Hoyle Shipman of Fort Worth served his brother as best man, and ushers were Melvin Schaeffer and Wayne Sluder. The bride, who was given in marriage by her fat hr was attired in a street-length dress of white, and carried a white Bible, For thin" she carried a blue handkerchief. Her corsage was of red roses.

Mrs. Schaeffer, mother of the bride, chose an aqua dress, and her corsaee was of pink carnations. The mother was attired in a black sheer dress, and she wore a corsage of red roses. Following the ceremony a reception was held, and the bride, assisted by the bridegroom, cut the wedding cake, which was baked by Miss Vesta Amerson, friend of the bride. The cake was served with punch to the sixty-seven guests.

Miss Amerson presided at the brides book. After the reception, the couple left for a short wedding trip, and will be at home in the near future at the H. H. Shipman farm, near Happy. The bride is well known in the community and has served as secre tary of the Fairview Sunday school, as secretary and treasurer for the Randall County Sing-Song Band, and co-sponsor of the Fairview Girls 4-H Club.

She is a graduate of Happy High School with the class of The bridegroom served for four years with the U. S. armed forces, thirty-four months of which were spent in the South Pacific with an infantry division. For the past year he has made his home with Mr. and Mrs.

H. H. Shipman. He is a nephew of P. H.

Shipman of Wayside. At the present time he is vice-president of the Training Union at Fairview Shower On Thursday afternoon, May 1, at 2:30 the bride-elect was honored with a bridal shower in the home of Mrs. J. W. Wesley, with Mrs.

A. E. Wise and her daughter, Mary, Vesta Amerson and Mrs. T. J.

Myers as co-hostesses. The entertaining rooms were decorated with cut flowers. Guests were greeted by Miss Amerson, and Miss Wise presided at the guest book. Piano selections were played by Miss Annabel Schaeffer. The guest of honor was seated with her mother, Mrs.

E. W. Schaeffer. She wore a dress of pastel gray combined with aqua and rose. A wagon decorated in pink and white and laden with many appropriate and useful gifts for the honoree was brought into the room by Charlene Wesley and Doyle Gene Shipman.

Punch, cookies and mints were served by the hostesses from a lace covered table which was centered with an arrangement of spring flowers. Approximately ninety friends and relatives registered in the guest book. SI HITE CLUB HAS STUDY Dr Leo Duflot was guest speaker for the afternoon when the Sue Hite Study club met Monday in the Thompson Club room. Topic for the occasion was Disorders in Following the program. Dr.

Duflot answered questions asked by the members of the club. Bourn assembled in their home Sunday for Mother's Day and to celebrate the forty-fourth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Bourn, which was May 10. A fried chicken dinner was served to 28 children, grandchildren and guests. A number of appropriate gifts were received by the honorees.
