The loss was to Manchester last week. HARRISBURG, Pa. A high, uncontrolled level of radiation was released into the atmosphere from the crippled Three Mile Island nuclear power plant today. Gov. Dick Thornburgh recommended pregnant women and preschool children leave the area within a 5-mile radius of the plant, and state officials were on alert for a possible evacuation of thousands of citizens.

RUTHERFORD COUNTY County law enforcement officials are investigating a church fire believed to be arson. The 151-year-old Fellowship Baptist Church on Lamar Road near the Wilson County line suffered extensive damage to the entire building as the result of a fire reported shortly before 10 p.m., a Sheriffs Office report stated. When Sheriffs deputies arrived, "smoke had filled the church and was burning in the center section of the building," the report stated.

Church members at the scene were able to rescue the church organ, and traces of kerosene were discovered on the organ. MURFREESBORO Oakland High School opens its 1979 outdoor track season here Thursday as host to a couple of tough ones, Tullahoma and Battle Ground Academy. But, said Harper, Oakland has a pretty good chance at some first places in some running-events, namely relays.
