Page 4C THE EAGLEBryan College Station Texas Wednesday July 21 1976 Iced Tea Coolers Quench Summertime Thirst As the summer heat doses in seems to take precedence over any other activity This is probably the only time of year where the question to is asked more frequently than to One of the nicest ways to welcome summer callers or pamper yourself is to have the mixings of a variety of summer coolers close at hand The basic ingredient of all of these (Summer thirst quenchers is iced tea mix 'Combined with frozen strawberries and sherbert iced tea makes a frosty fruit provided for with the Calypso Diet Delight These recipes for summer coolers will find you well prepared in the weeks ahead when you hear the familiar words cool to STRAWBERRY TEA RAPPE 3 cuds water One 16 oz pkg frozen strawberries thawed 1 cup lemon sherbert to cup iced tea mix In blender container combine water strawberries sherbert and tea mix process several seconds until well blended Pour into 2 freezer trays freeze until just frozen (aoout nours) return one tray to blender container process until siusny Repeat with remaining trays Serve immediately Garnish glass with lemon slice or strawberry if desired Makes eight 5 oz servings 1 RISKY LEMON COOLER Two 17 oz pkgs (to cup) iced tea mix 3 cups water 1 cup Galliano One 12 oz bottle ginger ale Crushed ice In 2 qt pitcher combine iced tea mix and water Stif in Galliano Chill in refrigerator until ready to serve Before serving add ginger ale and ice Garnish each glass with lemon slice if desired Makes 10 4 oz servings CALYPSO DIET DELIGHT 2 cups water Ito cups unsweetened pineapple juice 2 tablespoons iced tea mix 1 teaspoon rum extract In Ito qt pitcher combine water pineapple juice iced tea mix and rum extract mix well Serve over ice and gar nish with fruit skewer if desired Makes four 7 oz servings ROSTY COCONUT TEA 2 cups vanilla ice cream softened 114 cups cold water i cup iced tea mix 2 tablespoons sugar 14 teaspoon coconut extract In blender container combine vanilla ice cream water iced tea mix sugar and coconut extract blend at high speed until smooth Serve over ice Makes four 7 oz servings SCARLET TEA PUNCH 4 cups cranberry juice chilled 4 cups cold water 1 cup iced tea mix cup lime juice In 3 qt punch bowl combine cranberry juice water iced tea mix and lime juice mix well Serve with ice and gar nish bowl with lemon and lime slices if desired Makes 16 4 oz servings MINTED TEA RAPPE 2 cups water Mi cup iced tea mix li cup sugar Mi cup white creme de menthe Mi cup white creme de cacao In large bowl combine water iced tea mix con sugar white creme de menthe and white creme de cacao mix well Pour into ice cube tray reeze until just frozen (about 2 hrs) Scoop frozen mixture into large bowl or blender container Beat with electric mixer or blend in blender container at high speed until slushy Serve im mediately Garnish with mint leaf if desired Makes about four 5 oz servings RASPBERRY SHRUB 4 cups water 1 cup orange juice 14 cup sugar One third cup iced tea mix with lemon One 10 oz pkg frozen rasp berries thawed In 2 qt pitcher combine water orange juice sugar and icea tea mix with lemon mix until sugar is dissolved Stir in raspberries Chill in refrigerator several hours Garnish glass with half of an orange slice if desired Makes six 7 oz servings 'frappe rosty Coconut Tea becomes a sophisticatedversion of the milkshake and Minted Tea rappe combines just the right touch of white creme de menthe and creme de cacoa to tease the palate The 7 calorie conscious have been Shakes Satisfy Teens 1 One thing is certain these summer vacation days the teenagers will be getting together And you can be surethey will be hungry Why not satisfy their constant appetites with something love and at the same time is good for them?
