Died suddenly while on a trip to Arnprior, Ontario, Tuesday, November 19, 1994 at the age of sixty-one. He leaves In mourning his family, his friends and the members of Sauvetage Canada Rescue of whom he was a founder. He also leaves his dog and partner Pathfinder, with whom he worked as a team for almost six years. Art was Director of the Canine Section of S.C.R. In respect of his wishes Art was cremated without funeral services.

Subject to a consultation involving people in the field, an Arthur Galarneau Foundation may soon be established to perpetuate the volunteer work he accomplished all his life. In particular the Canine Search and Rescue work to which he devoted his last years of life.
