A variety shower in honor of Miss Mary Ellen. Carroll was held at the home of Miss Eleanor Borsdorf Saturday evening. Eight guests who were former members of a bridge club were One table of bridge and one'table of monopoly was enjoyed. Miss "Carroll was pre- sented her gifts by means of a treasure hunt. She was presented many lovely gifts.

Mrs. Helen Edwards, of New oar- lisle, Indiana, was a guest in the 0, j. Harbers home ever the week-end. John Alien motored to Rockford Monday to visit his wife who underwent an operation one day last week. Mr.

Alien reports his wife as being as well as can be expected. Revival meetings are being held this week in the Methodist Episcopal church, conducted by the Rev. Prances Thomas of Chicago, and Rev. J. McKelvy pastor of the Methodist church.

Injured In Pall on Dl.sc Fred Queckboerner, 50, of near Chadwlck, received serious injuries Monday afternoon about 2 o'clock when he fell on a disc while work- Ing on his farm. Mr.

ftueckboerner's left leg was cut and he lost a great amount of blood before first aid could be administered at a local physician's office where he waa rushed by automobile. Following first aid treatment he was taken to St. Francis hospital in Freeport by ambulance. City Council Issues Orders The city council has given notice that delinquent water bills for'the period from May 1 to Nov. 1, 1937, must be paid by April 15 or water will be shut off, Members of the council said there were a large number of bills for this period unpaid.

Notices have been sent to users of water whose payments are delinquent and they will have the opportunity to appear before the water works' committee If they desire. LENA SCHOOL TEACHER HONORED ON BIRTHDAY Lena, 111., March Blanche Folgate, teacher of the Rees school south of Lena, was most pleasantly surprised Friday noon when the mothers of her pupils came with well filled baskets to eat dinner with the teacher and help her to celebrate her birthday. As a token of the love and respect the children have for their teacher, they presented Mrs. Folgate with a beautiful sugar and creamer of Cambridge glass. Walb, dents of ogle county for more than naif a century, win celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary at their home in Maryland Station, about a mile east of Haldane, on Thursday, April 17. Active and well known throughout the community Mr. and Mrs. Walb have announced a party which they will give for a group of friends on the night of April 7. They are sending invitations requesting the presence of about sixty families to i party to be given in the Haldane hall Thursday night, April beginning at 8 o'clock.

A program of music and other features will be presented, and a talk Is to be given Rev. Mr. Hawbecker, of Mt. Morris. Refreshments will be served following the program.

Both Mr. and Mrs, Walb are natives of Huntington county, Pennsylvania, Mr. Walb being born August 26, 1856, Mrs. Walb Was born August 6, 1858. Mw.

Walb being 17 days older than her husband. Their marriage occurred at Marklesburg, April 7, 1878. They came to llinois, March 1, 1887 and settled 6n a farm near Forreston, They resided in that vicinity until they re- and moved to Maryland Sta- about twenty years ago. They lave been members of the Reformed church at West Grove. Both are In food health and are active, Mr.
