The Italian Football League, in a 12-day period, drew 1,726,873 spectators for a gate of $4,000,000. The Montreal Soccer Club will apply to the Canadian Soccer Football Association for permission to organize an International Soccer Tournament as part of the sports events planned for the 1967 World's Fair in Montreal. The request by President Connie Leber of the M.S.C. will be presented to the annual meeting of the C.S.F.A.

to be held in Winnipeg in mid-March. In this connection it is interesting to note that the United States Soccer Association has turned down a request by the Southern N.Y. State Soccer Association to be permitted to Ajax Club in Amsterdam this summer. their own regional affairs snd-report to a central body. This request was turned down at the last CSFA Council meeting held in Winnipeg in November.

The position of the professional leagues in relation to provincial associations is another matter which will come in for serious consideration at the E.C.P.S.L. annual meeting next week. It is no secret that the professional clubs which are paying out big money and have a heavy financial responsibility in the promotion of the game have no more say than the fly-by night teams which have merely paid an affiliation fee of $25. The pro clubs feel that this is a case of the tail wagging the dog and should be corrected over 90,000 football teams, players (not including school and army players) and 42,000 referees. Th number of international football matches played last yeer in 115 countries clearly proves once again that football is the king of sports.

The U.S.S.F.A. proposed to grant a license to a private promoter. This is not possible under the Canadian Association's constitution which stipulates that tours can only be organized or sponsored by affiliated soccer associations, leagues or clubs.

This rule was written into the constitution some years ago and was designed to prevent private promoters using the game to make profits for individuals or organizations not connected with soccer. The name of the promoter in New York has not been mentioned so far but it would not surprise if Bill Cox of, the International Soccer League is the successful applicant. Leber also reported that the annual meeting of the Eastern Canada Pro Soccer League will be held in Toronto Jan. 11 and 12. It is expected that president Harold Ballard will agree to continue in office and that secretary-treasurer Bill Simpson will be re-appointed.

The E.C.-P.S.L. will press for representation on the C.S.F.A. Council Leber said. He pointed out that the six clubs in the E.C.P.S.L. each pay an annual affiliation fee to the C.S.F.A.

of $250 more than the combined fee paid by the provinces which assessed $100 each. The E.C.P.S.L. will also support the Ontario Association's suggestion or amendment that the C.S.F.A. should be split into two bodies an East and West players and 926 referees. Hun gary lists 109,810 players.
