MINING DISTRICT OF Soledad, Los Angeles county, stats of California, March 9th, 1876. ON this day, at a meeting held by the miners oi tuo Kolednd Mining District, said enmity and State, at the house of Samuel Harper, In said compliance with a notice calling for said v. Harper, Recorder, and posted for thirty days, George D. Rush was appointed President and Chairman. The meeting was then called to order, and M.

I. Reilly was nominated as Secretary. The motion put before the meeting that M. J. Relllyact as Secretary, seconded and carried unanimously.

Toe following boundaries nnd by-laws of the Soledad Mining District were then adopted: This District shall be known as the Soledad Mining District, and bounded as follows: Com nolng at a point two miles southwest from the house ol Samuel Harper, in said So-1. dad Mining District, thence from said point twelve miles running due East to a point, thence due North ten miles to a point, thence due West twelve miles to a point, and thence ten miles South to the place of commencement. section 1. All claims shall conform to the mining net of May 10th, An Act to promote tiie development of the mining resources of he United States. Sec.2.

All claims shall be recorded within twenty days after posting notice ou the same. Sec. 3. Any person locating a claim shall be required to go witli the Recorder of the District ou the ground, show the boundaries, and if found to he not claimed and subject to location, tiie Recorder shall then take a copy of the notice posted on such claim and record the same, and shall be required to give to the claimant of said claim a certified abstract from the records of such claim, for which the Recorder shall receive a fee of Aye dollars (85i for eacli claim recorded. Sec.

4. Ali deeds, bills of sale and transfers shall oe recorded In the records of the district, for Which ih" Recorder shall receive tho ram of two dollars and fifty cents (52.50) for each deed, bill of sale or transfer. Sec. 5. The Recorder shall be required to keep a fair record of all mining claims iv a well bound book.

Sec. 6. The Recorder shall be required to keep all books appertaining to his office in a safe place, and allow Interested persons to examine them iv his presence, aud not otherwise. Sec.7. There shall bo a Recorder elected annually, on the 9th day of March.of which tion ten days' notice shall be given by posting notice in three ofthe most public places in tiie district Sec.

8. Tho Recorder shall have power toappoint a Deputy, whose acts shall be as legal as ofthe Recorder elected. Sec. 9. All persons locating ground for mining purposes shall be required to expend one hundred dollars worth of work on each claim, within one year from tho date of location, and each suoceeding year until a patent shall have been obtained.

Sec. 10. All claims not recorded within twenty days after posting notlco on the same shall besubject to re-location. Sec.ll. All expenditures made on the claim, such as recording, surveying by the Deputy U.

S. Mineral Surveyor, building roads, constructing ditches, or any other neoessary Improvement for be considered as work done on the claim. Sec. 12. All placer claims shall consist of twenty acres each; but an association of eight persons can Jointly locate one hundred and sixty acres, making eight claims in all, and can hold the same as one mining company without segregating the same.

Sec. 13. All vein or lode claims shall consist of fifteen hundred linear feet along the course thereof, and three hundred feet on each side of the center of the vein or lode; and no location.whateverthe number of persons making it, can exceed fifteen hundred linear feet along the course thereof. Sec. 14.

All locations shall be distinctly marked on the ground, so that their boundaries can he readily traced. Sec. 15. All records of mining claims shall contain tbe name or names of the locators, the date of the location and such a description of the claim or claims located, by reference to some natural objector permanent monument as will Identify the claim. Sec.

16. Upon the (allure of any one of several co-owners to contribute his proportion of the expenditures required by this act, the coowners who have performed the labor or made the improvements may. at the expiration of the year, give such delinquent coowner personal notieo in writing or by publication In the newspaper published nearest the claim, for at least once a week for ninety days; and If at the expiration of ninety days after such notice in wrltingor by publication, such delinquent should fall or refuse to contribute his proportion to comply with this act his interest in the claim shall become the properly of his have made the required expenditures. See. 17.

No lode claim can be recorded until after the discovery of a vein or loda within the limits of the ground claimed. Sec. 18. These laws shall go Into effect from and after this date, and can only be amended and altered by giving thirty days' notice by posters la three of the most public places iv the district. A motion being mado that a Recorder bo elected for the ensuing year, it was moved and seconded that Samuel Harper.the former Recorder, be elected to the office of Recorder for the ensuing year.
